eBay downloading links to captchas instead of my shipping labels
For the past few days when I try to download a shipping label, a link to a captcha will often download instead. If I click it, it never actually loads. Anyone else having this problem?

·1 year agoJust an update. This problem has been resolved for me. Everything works fine now. How is it going for you?

·1 year agoSame problem here. After I print an eBay shipping label I download the label. The first one of the day always downloads as a pdf which is what I want. The next labels usually download as a captcha and I am unable to open the captcha labels. Using Microsoft Edge. I wonder if it's the tracking prevention settings in Edge?

·1 year agoI doubt it's specific to a setting in Edge @cyclefarm since many sellers are reporting the issue with Chrome and other browsers.
My advice to sellers facing this issue:
Because everyone is reporting the first label of the day downloads fine but all labels after that download a captcha link, use bulk labels instead of single labels - that way your first download of the day will include all your labels in one shot and you can hopefully avoid the issue.
Another option is, at least for now, to purchase your labels from pirateship.com which will work for USPS and UPS. It will not work for eBay Standard Envelope or FedEx.

Hello everyone,
Thank you for reporting this. Would someone mind providing a screenshot of exactly what they are seeing (or not seeing) so we can get that over to our tech team?

·1 year agoHey @dave67stang - do you get the same captcha link download when you use "reprint" or is it only happening right after you generate the label?
dave67stang
·1 year agoIt happens at random on the first generation of a label and then everytime after on any new label generation and reprints.

·1 year agoDid you find a solution to this problem, I have called e bay and they have not provided any solution to this. It keeps downloading CAPTCHA.html labels instead of the PDF. I have tried using different browsers, restarting my computer , everything. I even bought a new computer and is doing the same thing!!!
this is getting really frustrating and slowing down my workflow.

·1 year agoHi @globalglam4you . This is a current tech error. Some sellers reported success working around it by:
- Using a different browser.
- Using bulk labels instead of single labels.
See if one of those options works for you and come back to let us know.
Which shipping service are you using? Based on your product I assume mostly, if not entirely, USPS Ground Advantage?

·1 year agoHello,
Thank you for your response. Yes, I used chrome, microsoft edge, duckduck go, and same thing. One label will print out but for the next one it comes out as a catpcha. I used incognito and same thing.
USPS ground advantage is what I use mostly. I tried with bulk and same thing.
No solution yet.

OP1 year agoHey everyone, I've still been having problems with this but for now am getting around it by switching to Safari rather than Chrome when printing labels.
Someone who claimed to be from eBay just left me a voicemail today about this post (a month after posting it) asking if I was having issues with printing bulk labels or single labels. They offered no other way to respond except calling back. I'm hesitant to accept a call from "eBay," has anyone ever had eBay call them about a post before? I print single labels and still have this issue.

·1 year agoI am noticing that this seems to happen when trying to download a label for Standard Envelope shipping and then every time after that. This is happening in single label printing. I have not tried bulk label printing. My method that this happens with is as follows.
From the create label screen when I click on purchase label the page goes to another page showing 2 buttons (Print Label and Download Label) at this time my print dialog pops up. I cancel out of the print dialog pop up and press the (Download Label) button and at that point is when the download pop up shows the download as "captcha.html". Again this method seems fine with Ground Advantage labels but then acts up as soon as I try downloading Standard Envelope labels.

·1 year agoUpvote if you are having this problem too so we can get more pressure on them to fix this because I really doubt the few of us that have commented are the only ones with the problem. Usually a reset did the trick but now it's not.

·1 year agoI'm still having the same issue, just like rymacardsandcollectibles wrote: "First label of the day is always fine, then every label after that is a struggle."

·1 year agoYes. I've been having this problem for weeks. Reported to eBay Customer service a couple of weeks ago. Still has not been fixed. Sometimes I can get around it buy buying the labels in bulk, but even that doesn't work every time. Frustrating.

·1 year agoReally annoying how eBay seems to have zero improvements even with all the fees they collect on each sale

·1 year agoSame issue here. First label of the day is always fine, then every label after that is a struggle.
I sell sports cards so I mostly use eBay standard envelope labels, but for cards over $20 I use USPS ground advantage. For ESE labels label I just spam click the download label button. It just keeps downloading captcha links until it finally downloads the label. I might have to click 15 times or 200 times, but the label eventually downloads.
The ground advantage labels are the real chore. Clicking the download link for those brings the label up on a new tab instead of just trying to download the label. You can’t just spam the button until an actual label downloads so the time it takes to get one can be absurd.
Long story short, this has taken an easy process that I could usually be done with in less than a minute or 2 and turned it into a frustrating nightmare.

·1 year agoI am having the same problem. It's been like that for at least a week. Some labels are ok, some are the captcha, and some are fixed some time after generation of a label.

·1 year agoI just tried using Chrome in Incognito mode and it works perfectly fine. After that I went back to regular Chrome and logged out of Ebay completely, cleared all cookies and data, closed chrome, re-opened Chrome again and did a fresh login to Ebay. I was asked to solve a captcha and then signed in as normal. Downloads seem to be working currently.
dave67stang
·1 year agoUPDATE.
The last thing didnt work either. Went right back to downloading as captcha today.
