Ebay charging Buyer TOO MUCH for Calculated Shipping
Yes, I know this is a "good" problem to have, but it is a problem.
The situation: I put in the correct dimensions/weight of the item. It comes through as a $8 charge for UPS shipping, buyer paid $17. Even if I put in the wrong dimensions, ebay is calculating for the dimensions I entered and charging for the dimensions I entered. So, they should line up for the carrier chosen. I don't have any handling fees. It's not a large item, 8 x 14 x12 or something like that, 2 pounds.
The problem: Sure, having extra $ for shipping gives me good options. However, what about the sales I don't get because they see high shipping prices? For most items it comes through fine, but it's the second time on this particular item that it has happened. I will not recycle the listing any more and start from a good one next. But I only saw people saying the reverse side of this problem (ebay not charging enough) on these boards. Anyone ever run into this before? Thanks.

·3 years agoHey Bob. Many sellers charge retail rates because the difference goes towards eBay fees and packing supplies. If you prefer to pass along the online discounted rate to buyers and make up for fees and expenses in your item cost then you can adjust your settings here under carrier specific discounts: https://www.ebay.com/ship/prf

OP3 years agoOhhhh!! VERY helpful. Thank you! Yet another shipping lesson learned. My FedEx was set to discount but UPS was not. I usually increase the size/weight of the item enough to add about 15% to most packages, the retail price is quite a bit higher than ebay rates.
