eBay added error UPS fee to my selling statement and won't address the issue
This is why I hate selling items on eBay, it use to be so simple and now it greedy politics
I just bought a new video card not on ebay and the company shipped it to me. I knew I was going to sell my old video card off so I kept the shipping box the new one came in since it was in great condition.
1- I list a video card and it sells a week later to a real paying buyer with good ratings.
2. I package up the card that sold on eBay and use the eBay shipping system and use my postal scale and the numbers on the bottom of the box that shows the size of the box.
3. I have the guy at the UPS store even check everything I am good, the weight is 6.5 and I have down 7pds and I listed the size at 12x18x8 ( whats on the bottom of the box ) and ship off the box
A few weeks later I get an adjustment to what ebay already charged me almost 50.00 for a 335.00 video card with free shipping saying UPS said the box was 13x18x9 for a total weight of 13pds billable...
Being a RTX3080 video card weight is less than 5 pounds, how can this be, so I call UPS who of course sounds outsourced like almost everything and I am told the number on the bottom of the box is not the true size of the box. Wait what, I always use the bottom of the box pre printed measurements and I have never had any issues, so of course UPS says even if an error occurred for the extra fee you have to contact ebay!!
So I contact eBay and almost 40 mins of back and forth and even asked for a manager and I was told;
1. eBay can't refund the UPS fee ( I said UPS said you had to since it was your billing system that charged me )
2. The manager tells me, if it's not over 10.00 I am SOL
So of course the 1st rep says call back UPS and I said they said to call you and it's your end of the billing, but no and the manager was Oh well the buck stops with me and I can't do anything.
I said this is why I don't use ebay anymore high fee's and **bleep** like this, I thought I was safe on this sale, but UPS screws me with a incorrect fee, ok where is the picture of he box size ? and how is it 7.13 for 1 extra inch and the weight is still under 7 pds that didn't charge just your well it could have been weight. I can't even fight the charge total **bleep**

·8 months agoRead up on Dimensional weight - that is more than likely what you were charged, and it has nothing to do with eBay, it's all on UPS.

·8 months agoI agree with @stainlessenginecovers you need to measure. That is the interior dimensions.

·8 months agoThat was your mistake RIGHT THERE!!
That 'dimension' is from the Cardboard Box Company and represents the INSIDE dimensions, as all box companies do.
You needed to actually put a tape measure on the box after it's sealed... but typically a 12x18x8 is really 13x19x9 (always round up).
