Duplicate label on same package

Hi! I have a problem. I have a buyer who purchased multiple items from me on the same day. I printed all the labels and stupidly printed the same one twice and attached them to two different packages. Took them all to the post office who scanned them all and moved on with our day's. Multiple days go buy and I', auditing my orders, I see that one has still not been delivered but the other one has - weird, they went out the same day. So I pull up my receipt and the orders and sure enough, 2 of the packages scanned at the post office have the same tracking number. I reached out to the purchaser and asked if they received both packages. They say, they don't know and they need to check with their warehouse. Messages me back a few days later and says Ebay says it's not delivered. I explained the situation again that the tracking numbers will not match the second package because I am an idiot and used the same label on both. I reached out to the post office who say it will usually still get there but the buyer may have to pay postage, or it could be returned back to me. but it was kind of like a "it is what it is".
Has anyone has this happen? what steps did you take? what was the outcome?
