Does Ebay still use the international selling hub?
Summary: The discussion centers around the changes and challenges with eBay's international selling service, specifically eIS and GSP. lotzofuniquegoodies discusses the increased shipping times and costs since eIS was implemented, as noted by longer delivery times from Canada to the US, UK, and Australia. They lament the lack of straight-line shipping and the absence of shipping discounts with major carriers, emphasizing a forced reliance on eIS. inhawaii and lotzofuniquegoodies debate the interpretation of shipping time estimates, highlighting skepticism towards eBay's shipping timelines as merely optimistic estimates rather than guarantees.
I just sold an item to a buyer in Canada. They paid for the item but I was given their address directly. I thought there was another address to send to Ebay directly so they can handle items shipped to other countries. Any ideas? Thank you

·4 months agoQ: Does Ebay still use the international selling hub?
A: Yes, but only if you ship via EIS.
Q: Why isn't my order going there?
A: Because you're not enrolled in EIS.

·4 months agoAs I noted earlier, four earlier sales by this seller had eIS applied to them, so enrollment isn’t likely the issue. The seller may have somehow disabled eIS in their selling preferences, however.

·4 months agoIf you want EBAY to handle "international shipments" for you need to "opt in" to EIS. Go to Site Preferences, Shipping Preferences (click on EBAY International Shipping to "opt in").
When using EIS shipping they waive "international fee" and EBAY is responsible if item gets "lost or damaged" in shipment.
I would "cancel this order" and have customer repurchase item using EIS shipping.

·4 months agoFor what reason? The buyer hasn’t requested a cancellation and there isn’t a problem with the address, as far as I can see, so those reasons are out.

·4 months agoThe item sold today wasn't listed with EIS, so you ship to the buyer.

·4 months agoI'm in Canada. Your listing for the Charlie's Angels Pocketbook Radio shows First Class Package International as the shipping method to me. However, it shows US$10.99 as the shipping rate, which is a substantial discount over the USPS counter rate. Is that around what your domestic shipping charge is?
The four items you sold previous to today's sale seem to have eBay International Shipping applied to the listings, however.

For anyone enrolled in eIS or not...
When eBay came up with GSP/EIS no one ever took into consideration that the shortest distance between 2 points is supposed to be a straight line. Nothing within eIS has ever moved in a straight line.
Prior to eIS my US shipments were arriving in 7 to 10 days consistantly. (When it was legal to ship with Canada Post to the USA.) Now 14 to 23 days. Canada to UK was 7 to 10 days. Now 19 days. 7 to 10 days for Australia. 23 days now with EIS. Ummmm Yayyy? Oh right, now shipping is 2 to 2.5 times more expensive. Miss how that is a perk for my customers.
As for US sellers shipping on their own that would be a much cheaper/pleasant experience if eBay would offer sellers actual discounts with USPS/Fedex/UPS. In checking just now, it appears they are no longer even offering discounted shipping with UPS/Fedex for international shipping. Guess there is a big push to get sellers to ONLY use eIS.

Nope. 2 weeks + 2 weeks just means it will get there when it gets there. That was my interpretation. I've never taken eBay estimates as gospel. They are just best best best case scenario.
