Differnt buyer and ship to ?
I do not know if this is the correct place for this but any help will be appreciated - This is the backstory - I sell mostly sports cards and Last week I received and email for someone (ebay buyer with feedback over 1,000 ) asking how can i sell cards so cheap with free shipping ? I politely wrote back saying that my hope it that they purchase more than 1 card and become repeat buyers - The next day I received over 30+ orders for single cards shipping to differnt buyers all over the US - I found it strange but printed the orders and pulled the cards - I realized that all 30 orders were from 2 different sets and the same cards ( 1 thru 7 ) - Then I noticed that every person ordereing the cards had feedbacks less that 50 and their name was different from the name of the person receiving the card ( ship to name ) - I called Ebay because I know from past experience that you must ship to the person that made the purchase . After being on the phone for over 1 hour I was told to cancel all the orders and to block all the buyers - Today I received another order with the buyers name being different from the ship to name - Called Ebay again and was told to cancel the order or write the buyer and verify on Ebay that they want it shipped to another person - I wrote the buyer and have not gotten a reply and I do not want to be late in shipping an order - Should I cancel ?
Am I missing something? Is this a new scam ? What is drop ship and how does it work ? is this it ? What is the best way to handle this ?

·3 years agoIn Nov./Dec. 2021 I had 266 sales of $1 postcards (free shipping) from 261 buyers (all likely "unauthorized use of buyer accounts" a few of which eBay eventually verified), many buying the same item and all shipping to different but similar names at one of two addresses of freight forwarders in Oregon. Most of the buyers had old accounts from 2011-2017) with very low feedback and almost no recent transactions. After these 266 sales had the payments to me approved, the "buyers" went to other sellers and bought expensive items. I found out about this by looking at the buyers' feedbacks. As an example, 535 purchases from Dell were made by this pool of 261 buyers after buying from me. (If the average cost of these Dell purchases was $300, that's $160.500.)
Initially I mailed the postcards. Then I started reporting this as likely fraud to eBay and cancelling orders, using the problem with address reason. It was hard to find where to report fraud, and I got very few responses from eBay. I'm guessing all these low priced purchases were made to see if the fraudulent payment would go through.
One day in December I attempted to call the 23 buyers who all purchased the same $1.00 postcard on the same day and had shipping to someone else at the Oregon freight forwarder address. 1 answered and said they had not bought a postcard from me and had not subsequently purchased a Dell computer on eBay. 1 answered and said they did not have an eBay account. 1 wrong number. 5 calls could not be completed as dialed. 1 not a working number. 2 calls had calling restrictions. 6 calls said leave message. 3 calls no answer. 3 calls failed for other reasons. I mailed a few of these postcards I thought might just possibly be legitimate and five were returned by the USPS.
Once I started charging for shipping and was no longer a low, low cost seller the bogus purchases stopped.

·3 years agoSo, when you get an email on your computer....not eBay site...but an actual email "Great News-your item has sold"...and then "Your buyer's shipping details"....again this is through an email and not on the eBay site...did you get 30+ emails in your email box? I use the address on my email and not through eBay site for the address. I only go by this for an address since it has a better format than on the eBay site....especially International Mailing Addresses. And you could goggle the address to see if it is a house or freight forward or whatever.
The email in your emails...not on eBay site...show's the person's name is the person who paid for item. I had someone buy 29 of my items last month and I used the name and address on my email and not from eBay site. Address was of South Korea and finally got positive feedback....it was a great sale for me.
I somehow feel you could be losing a great sale like I got.

·3 years agoHi, sadly I don't have an answer for you, but if there is any chance of something off or scammy I'd just keep cancelling the orders. Too much grief. And I don't think this is drop ship :

My understanding is it's when you sell things you don't actually have and they get shipped by a 3rd party. This does not seem to be that, but maybe the buyer is acting like a scout for other buyers. Either way you don't want to have issues with eBay so just cancel.
