Didn’t use eBay shipping label. Voiding is not an option.
I printed the label from eBay. Packed the item and realized it was 12 pounds heavier than the label stated. I brought it to the post office to get help where they scanned the label and told me that they could “postage due†on the package. Then they told me it could cost between $50-$100 more than the buyer paid. So, I took the package to UPS and got it shipped and delivered next day for $40. I can’t void the eBay label because the post office scanned it. How do I get my money back for the unused label?

·9 months agoSorry, but the label was scanned, so it was used.
USPS doesn't give refunds for shipping labels that have been used.

·9 months agoYou can't. Once scanned, it's "used".

·9 months agoYour title makes it sound like an eBay label problem, but they can be voided unless they were scanned as used. Do you normally print your labels before you pack the items you sell? I don’t understand taking it to the post office instead of voiding it yourself.
I also don’t understand why a clerk scanned the label since you knew it was wrong and they could also see it was wrong. I agree it’s worth trying to get them to refund locally.

·9 months agoI was going to post the same as @inhawaii, going back to the post office where the scan happened and even better if you can get the same clerk, maybe the scan could be removed (I doubt it) or maybe they can do the actual refund on the spot. Every other normal method was simply be turned down because of the scan.
I wonder what would happen if you filed an insurance claim for "not delivered" since the package was scanned (as accepted?) but never delivered.

·9 months agoThe label was purchased by eBay through eBay's account at the USPS. I sincerely doubt a local post office is going to refund an online label, let alone to someone other than the purchaser of record.

·9 months agoUnfortunately eBay doesn't now what's going to happen to the package once the label is scanned, so at that point the postage is non refundable. Can you take it back to the post office and pay for the additional postage?
Might be a good idea to invest in a scale. I bought one for $50 online and it accurately measures all my packages.

·9 months agoSounds like you can't void the label because it was scanned.
I would think you would have to take this up with the usps.
I would take it back to the same post office that scanned it.
