Date in title caused me not to be able to be eligable for eBay International Shipping!?
So I had a buyer want to purchase several Dune action figures from me. They're in Canada. I made a custom listing for them of all 4 figures they wanted. But when they tried to buy it they got a message that I don't ship to Canada.
But I definitely do. I use eBay International Shipping and nowhere is excluded.
I tried all sorts of things without success. Finally, I called eBay and after 20 mins and him checking he told me it was just because I put "1984" (the year the toys were made) in the title.
Why? How does that even make sense? At first I thought it was an Orwell thing, which would be really screwed up, but he said any date could trigger it. I explained I have dates in 50% of my titles because I sell vintage and dates, especially with things like toys, are very important because buyers want to know if it's an original issue or a reissue.
According to him, it can be in the description, but just not the title.
I mean does this sound legit to anyone? Has anyone heard this? It really upsets me off because it's so stupid.
It also likely means that more than half of my listings are ineligible for Canada shipping and makes me wonder how many sales I've missed out on when the buyer just got that message that I don't ship to Canada and never messaged me. Right beside that message eBay gives a link to buy from another seller, by the way

·1 year agoThat doesn't make sense. Year isn't a trigger.
More likely the problem is you listed with "lot" in the title because mixed lots aren't eligible for eBay International Shipping (eIS).
Mixed lots are a problem because the customs paperwork had to declare every item.
If you are selling all the same product, like t-shirts as an example, you could remove lot of 4 t shirts and just say 4 t shirts and that would be fine. But if it's truly a mixed lot, removing the word lot could make the listing eligible only to end up having the package get stopped at the hub when they inspect it.
So yeah, remove lot from titles for eIS eligibility, but only when your lots are multiples of the same item.
