Customer unable to buy because item wont appear available to ship internationally
Hello, A customer in Germany(I am in USA) wants to buy something which I most certainly have set as available for international shipping. It is a made in USA item set accordingly. Customer says they are not seeing it set as available for international shiping. Of course going into a listing on my end to sort this out is impossible. Should I just tell the customer, sorry it's robotically impossible to accommodate this sale?
Thank you.

OP4 months agoInteresting but confusing and dated 2022. I know I have had dozens of items purchased by and sent to German addresses since that time. Some this year even.

I assume it's the item you have "on hold for Ranger."
You DO have your listings correctly set for EIS but it's possible that item isn't allowed for import to Germany which could be the reason Germany isn't among the "ships to" countries.
ETA: I think my guess is correct because I looked at another listing, Kamala Lopez and that listing does show shipping to Germany.

·4 months agoFor what it's worth, Canadian sellers using eIS are running into a version of this issue for shipping non-Canadian items to the US. It seems that the make-up of some of these items is too complex for the eIS system to handle duties, tariffs, and the associated documentation, so the United States is simply removed as a shipping location for these items.
I guess I posted this already, but here's a bit of elaboration on my earlier post.

OP4 months agoGood lord I can't even find that page you are showing of my own stuff! AS I have said since the first question. Years ago, I set my account and items to ship ebay international shipping. When an item sells, I print a label as i would any other sale and ship it to what looks like an ebay hub address. This is all I know. I have never seen an option nor been interested in adjusting it in any manner. I simply cannot imagine wanting to do so. Unless a customer cannot buy an item of mine due to shipping restrictions of their country and there is a setting I must adjust to make sure they never see the item to begin with and that adjustment is very easy to make. As in 30 seconds or less. Otherwise I will be reluctant but quick to tell people they cant have it and nothing I can do about it.

·4 months agoFrom what I’ve seen with the recently introduced Canadian version of eBay International Shipping and a handful of US listings where eIS is used, eBay seems to be ramping up its filtering of locations for specific listings that may prove problematic for eIS.
What seems to be happening when a location is stripped from an eIS-supported listing is that a message along the lines of “may ship to [country name], contact seller for details” appears in the shipping section of the listing and it becomes up to the seller whether or not they want to accommodate the buyer with a direct shipment.

OP4 months agoWell if you are onto something... it would be nice if ebay did not offer the item at all to international customers from sellers who have no idea about all of this and are spinning for hours wasted, wondering, and not set up at all to handle international shipping on their own or have not priced things accordingly.

·4 months agoMy understanding is that if sellers are not prepared to ship internationally under their own steam, they should be adding regions or countries to their exclusion list and then clicking a checkbox that allows eBay International Shipping to override that exclusion list. I'm not sure what the seller form looks like for .com as I'm a retired seller in Canada, so you'll have to check my math on that.

·4 months agoI'm literally having the exact same issue, except it's an item manufactured in China. Customer says I don't ship to their country, but I'm enrolled in EIS.
I've made sales to Australia and Canada recently, not sure why Germany is having issues.

·4 months agoCheck your shipping preferences in settings, are you enrolled in eIS? If you are enrolled it applies to all your lisitings automatically. It sounds like you may not be, then shipping to Germany is complex and you need LUCID # to state you package and are compliant with their packaging regulation

OP4 months agoI have settings to international shipping and print a label to a sale same as any other whether international or not. Until times like this I don't care what things say as long as they work, or if not a simple statement of it wont work, and maybe why would be nice. I sell items which go international quite often, all my settings are the same across the board no matter their acronyms. Thanks for help but I'm just going to have to tell this customer sorry nobody knows and I can't help them.

·4 months agoYou might not be understanding what I'm saying....you need to be "licensed" to sell to Germany on your own. LUCID is a third party organization that gives you that license and permission. Without it, you can't sell to Germany at all. Once you are approved, you give eBay your number and it opens up the German market for you to ship to.

OP4 months agoHello, I am unaware of any initial definitions. I just set ebay international shipping yes on listings, print the label which appears to go to an ebay hub address when I make a sale. Thank you
Oddly even though this works 99 plus percent of the time each and every listing backstage appears to prompt one to set international shipping as if you are not already. SO it's all very confusing.

·4 months agoAre you set up with eIS to the hub or direct international shipping? If you are not using the eIS, but shipping on your own, you need a Lucid # and be certified to ship to Germany.
