OP5 months agoit was addressed to me. I finally got an agent on the phone but I'm still not sure what is going on with it. the buyer had purchased an item from me over a year ago and returned the item to me and somehow they were able to reprint the same return label and reuse it. the return I.D. number, order number and I think the agent said the tracking number was the same. when the agent tracked it though it showed Feb. 25, 2026 as the delivery date which was when I received this package. I still don't know what is going on with it.

·5 months ago@usalvage you are being played, as a patsy.
The actual seller doesn't have a US return address. They know your address after you previously shipped to them/an associate/poster sharing online. And used your address to be their seller account return address.
Now when a buyer needs to return to the actual seller, eBay puts your address all proper on the prepaid return label. Then you get the buyer's return item. And the buyer gets their refund.
You didn't pay for the return label; the actual seller was billed for that. But you will be getting many more wayward returns to throw away. Or return to sender (if you don't open the package) so the buyer gets both their refund and the item back.
But you were right, to try to contact eBay.
Because -- if you could get eBay to look up the 10-digit EBAY RETURN ID at the bottom left of the return label, that will reveal the actual seller.

·6 months agoWere you expecting a return?
Was it from your buyer?

OP5 months agoI am not expecting a return and I haven't been notified of any pending returns. I don't know if they have ever bought anything from me or not but that is a possibility.

·6 months agoWas there not a seller's address on the label?
Have you tried to find the seller by looking up the sold item on eBay?
At this point, the seller is the only one who can fix this.
Have you recently bought from this seller and he just mixed up two packages?

I think you misunderstood the OP.
I believe he's the seller and received a return from a buyer (of his) but the buyer returned it to the wrong seller.
*I read a similar post yesterday from a buyer who returned his item to the wrong seller. Will see if I can find the post!
Found it!

@usalvage - Would the OP of the above thread happen to be your buyer?

·6 months agoHis statement was: "I received a return that was supposed to go to someone else".
Not much to go on there. I assumed this package just wandered in out of the blue and he had no idea why it had been delivered to him.

OP5 months agoyou are correct , it's not my item. It was supposed to go to who ever they purchased it from.

OP5 months agoI think it's what has happened but I don't think it's the same buyer.

OP5 months agoit's an ebay return label with the senders address which I assume is the buyer. I don't know how to find out who the seller was.

·6 months agoWhat the heck would ebay do about it if you had been able to get ahold of someone??
Stop worrying about it. Throw it out.
Problem solved.

OP5 months agoignoring a problem doesn't make it go away. it has an ebay return label that I'm pretty sure they charged to my account and I'm sure if i could get hold of ebay they could help.

·5 months agoFor your sake, I hope they can, but I do not expect that they can.
If you do not have an open return, you are expecting, I doubt they can help. If you have on pending, I expect they will force you to refund, in spite of having received the wrong item.
Contacting Ebay customer support, is often worse than ignoring a problem.
