Combined Shipping policy... What works?
Hi there, I am in need a some guidance.
I have been trying for a long time now to figure out the combined shipping. I have tried the combined weight, which makes astronomical postage amounts. Even eBay says to do it that way. I tried to set up the minus weight option. It says you must set it up in your listing. I could not find where to do that on the new page.
Today, it was pointed out to me that if I don't have a policy at all, folks can request a total from their cart. I want to try that one now. However, I cannot figure out how to remove the policy. It always says I have one.
Yes, I have allowed this to frustrate me.
Anyways... What works for you? What is the easest for the buyer? How do you make it work?

On my main store here I use free shipping and so to encourage people to buy multiples I just use Volume Pricing giving them a 10% discount if they buy 2, 15% for 3 and 20% for 4 or more.
On another store I run with my friends I have calculated shipping based on weight. In the health and beauty section I set up a promotion where the Max amount of shipping anyone can pay is $8 (As long as they add everything into their cart and apply the promotion). A lot of times people will purchase like 6 of the same sample/Travel Size item ( Which are a lot of the items I send to my friends to sell for me because they're not as expensive and I don't want to deal with the inventory) and it can all still be shipped for under 8 oz and definitely under a lb. Worst case scenario we can use a flat rate bubble mailer.

·3 years agoThe Request Total From Cart feature is toggled in the "Shipping Preferences" section.
Toggle this on and a "request total" link will appear in buyers shopping carts when they have more than one item.
This will let you generate an invoice with proper shipping charges.

·3 years agoI've never heard of a specific request total from cart feature in Shipping Preferences. Could you please post a screenshot?

·3 years agoI think you have to activate combined payments, and that will add the "Request Total" link in the cart.
At least - that's how it used to work...
