Combined Shipping - Did Something Change?
This morning a buyer won eight auctions from me, all with the same shipping policy that calls for no additional charge after the first item. But when he went to pay he was charged $5.50 shipping x 8. It should have been just the $5.50 for the first item. When I went to send him an invoice, it showed that same erroneous $44.00 shipping charge. That was easy enough for me to modify but it should have shown $5.50.
The only change that I recently made was increasing the flat charge from $5.00 to $5.50, but I made no change to the additional identical items ($0.00). Did I miss a step? Did changing the initial amount somehow alter the additional items calculation (which still says $0.00)?

OP5 months agoI now see where I messed up. While I previously had a flat rate shipping rule established, I hadn’t added it to my new $5.50 flat rate shipping policy when I made the recent change.

@stuff4divas covered it but just so you understand, the screen shot you provided works but only is it's a multi-quantity listing where the buyer can purchase 2, 3.
Your can try setting up Flat-Rate combined shipping rules which will apply a discount for multiple items from different listings.

Fortunately for you buyers of Auctions are not immediately directed to Checkout so that gives you an opportunity to send a revised invoice.
In theory the buyer could add all the item they won to the cart and then Request a revised Invoice. Unfortunately that option is not available most of the time (but maybe more often available when it involves Auctions rather than Fixed Price listings.

·5 months ago@nyr134 ^^^^^ That's how I do it. Just to go Account Settings in the upper left of the eBay website, then click on Shipping Preferences.
If you use calculated shipping, you can set that up too, but keep in mind that when eBay combines calculated shipping items, they only consider the weight and not the size of the package. This can lead to surprise dim. weight charges if you aren't careful.
Because I have multiple shipping policies based on various package sizes, I offer a different shipping discount for each one, this way I don't have someone buying up all my VCRs and getting some insane discount. 🙂 I think that 20% or 30% rule applies to those.

·5 months ago@nyr134 if they are separate listings and only 1 item was won on each listing, then they would be charged $5.50 for each listing/auction won.
in other words, if u have 10 of the same item on one listing and someone buys 5, they pay the $5.50 for the 1st item, then zero for the next 4.
you can invoice them or refund the difference to make the other 7 auctions free shipping.
