Checked tracking for my buyer - it says “Your shipment is being returned due to issues encountered.â€

I was wondering if I can get some help with the eBay international delivery?
So I sold an item for $650 for someone in Saudi Arabia. It’s a Dior advent calendar with makeup items, skincare, perfumes, candles, etc.
i just checked the tracking today for my item and saw that it was being returned to me? This is the first time I’ve experienced something like this… any ideas on what to do when I get it back?
I’ve already messaged the buyer to let them know of the delay. Now I’m wondering if eBay is going to charge me for the label (it was expensive) and what other methods I have to create another label or what service I should use? I’ve had a pretty easy time with eBay international shipping so this really threw me for a loop.
Any advice is appreciated from other buyers who’ve had the same issue.

·3 years agoHey @noxrox2011. Most countries will not allow the import of items containing alcohol (like perfume) so an item like this should be restricted exclusively to domestic shipping via ground methods. Each carrier has different requirements for shipping hazmat so you need to read up based on carrier for packaging and labeling requirements. This applies to fragrances, nail polish and anything else flammable / hazmat.
If you read up on Saudi Arabia specifically, you'll see there are also issues with importing religious items. Even though your item has the appearance of a regular beauty sampler pack, technically an advent calendar or a Christmas countdown calendar is a religious item.
Cosmetics also come with a long list of restrictions to Saudi Arabia - check the UPS link for more info on that.

When the package is returned to you, refund the buyer by initiating a cancellation citing "problem with buyer's address."

·3 years agoFor the 3 years my son and his family lived in the UAE, (Next door to Saudi Arabia) they told
me to not send them anything. Care packages, Food, snacks, Magazines, books.
"We won't get it"
Make up? What are the ingredients? Saudi post will look very closely.

Friends who worked in Saudi had a tough time with Christmas decorations. Most they imported from Germany were confiscated at the border.
Saudi Arabia is a theocracy. And the calendar is a religious object. The wrong religion.
