Changing "ship from" locations while on the road
I will be going on the road soon. My location will be changing often. I will have a permeant mailing address, but it will not be where I am when I sell an item. Do I just ignore I maybe in a different state than my permeant mailing address when I mail items out using eBay shipping labels? If an item is returned, hopefully not that many, BUT if the item needs to be returned it would need to be returned to my permeant mailing address which would then be forwarded to me. I probably wouldn't be in the temporary location I mailed it from. TIA

OP3 years agoThank you again for this information. I found the information and the correct area to make the changes so helpful, thank you again. The good thing is that I should be in the same spot for a month at least. So at least I shouldn't have to change it but maybe once a month.
I like using eBay mailing labels because they are so easy for me. So, this will help lots. My fear was that I would have problems with not having the right costs for those labels and not finding out until I went to mail them.
Thank you all again.

·3 years agoThe way this system is with Managed Payments and addresses matching- I would NOT DARE change ANYTHING having to do with an Address. Just ship from where you ship from and leave the addresses as is, is my take.

·3 years agoIf the sender is purchasing postage online, then an inaccurate "shipping from" location will usually lead to inaccurate postage payment. The postage cost for zoned services is based on the ZIP Code of the "Shipping from" address.

OP3 years agoThank you. I have gone to settings and see where to change my main address, the one I would want returned Item sent to. Where do I put the a second address, the one I would need to change to ship from. And how will they know which one to return an item to.

·3 years agoInstead of working with your site preferences, check the return and ship from addresses right on the label preparation form, next time you're purchasing a label.

You should see this at Account settings/Personal info/Addresses. Note that your "main" ('Registration') address, 'Ship from' address and 'Return address' are each different fields. If you're filling orders on the move... change the 'Ship from' as you move. They'll know to return things to the 'Return address', as that will automatically the one eBay will put on Return labels. Fill in as needed; save your changes. Good luck.

·3 years agoYour "Ship from" address can be different from your "return" address. If you're not at home, then for your "Shipping from" address you should substitute the address of the PO that you are mailing from. This will ensure that you pay the correct postage rate.
When you change either of those addresses, it will generally carry over to the next label but I'd keep an eye on it.
