Change from Free Shipping?
Summary: ashleyswan is seeking advice on their shipping policy. They currently use free shipping by adjusting item prices but are concerned about profit margins due to rising costs, especially with rural and long-distance shipping. They are considering switching to calculated shipping and wonder if this requires individually editing over 800 items. ashleyswan appreciates any insights from the community.
Hello, I am looking for some advice regarding my shipping policy. I have used free shipping - this seemed easier for me a couple of years ago. I adjust my pricing about $5-$6 to compensate for the cost of shipping. This has worked ok, but with the increase in costs I am not sure if this is the best option anymore. My items average $18-$30 so when shipping to a rural area or long distance costs $8.50 this is a big cut on my profit.
If I change to calculated shipping, I am assuming I need to edit all 800+ items individually?
Thank you in advance; I appreciate the knowledge and experience on this board!

·1 week agoNo not really. You can Bulk Edit the Shipping Details of multiples and change to Calculated without Free Shipping. Or if using an actual defined "Shipping Policy" under Business Policies, you can just modify the Shipping Policy(s) to Calculated cost vs. Flat cost (believe this change will also make you re-add the type of package service again) and make sure Free Shipping is unchecked. Then when you update the respective Policies, it will apply the new settings to all those respective Listings previously under the Flat Service. Just rename the Policy if you have it titled Free Shipping for clarity.
