Canadian buyer can't purchase item despite being enrolled in EIS.
I have a buyer interested in purchasing an auto part from me in Canada. However, on their end they are seeing that I don't ship to Canada, which I do and have. On my end I cannot change the country location, as far as the listing is concerned I only ship to the U.S.
I've tried changing the title, adding information, deleting information, editing information, removing pictures; yet it is still not showing as able to be shipped to Canada. It is a turn signal lever (item #264595665510) so it is far from a large part that is over the maximum dimensions.
I am at a loss for what is causing this issue.

From what I've been seeing posted on the discussion boards about both the US and Canadian versions of eIS, it appears that eBay is getting more proactive about disabling eIS if the AI inspecting the listing picks up any clues that the item might be problematic for the hub to forward to an international destination. Practice in the past seemed to be that if there was a listing that didn't qualify for the program for shipping to a particular destination or all international destinations, the sale would go through anyway and the item would dead-end at the hub, frustrating both the buyer and the seller.
As @stainlessenginecovers suggests, auto parts that may have fuel residue on them will definitely not be handled by eIS. Since the turn signal lever was listed in the "other" category and the AI didn't have much else to go on, it erred on the side of caution and disabled eIS on the listing. AI doesn't "see" listings the same way humans do; it has to go with categories and subcategories and probably doesn't have a lot of keywords in the auto category to work with except for "bad" ones.
Glad that things seem to have worked out for this particular sale, @allmycollections8693.

OP4 months agoI think I may have just figured it out.
I changed the category from 'other' to something a bit more specific and it then showed as being shipable to other countries. The buyer just purchased it so that seemed to be the issue. It looks like anything that is listed in an 'other' subcategory won't show up in EIS and only will if you select an actual subcategory.

Well, now comes the waiting game, if the item was not allowed to be shipped via EIS to Canada, it will not reach the buyer and the EIS hub will be its final destination. Usually the buyer will be refunded, you will keep the money, and eBay will resell the item (in the U.S.) to recoup its money.
Only time will tell.

·4 months agoThe item initially wasn't shippable internationally period through eIS, not just to Canada, and this was because it was sub-categorized as "other" which meant the AI inspecting the listing was unable to ascertain if it was a part that might have fuel residues. The OP changed the subcategory to "switches and controls" which sent the AI a message that it would not be a part that would have had contact with petroleum products.
I think the odds are good that the turn signal lever will clear the hub and make it to its destination in Canada.

·4 months agoThis MIGHT pertain:
Some or All auto parts are NOT ALLOWED by EIS (due to possible oils/gas residues etc.).
This particular number does NOT have EIS listed as an available 'country'.
Only USA.

·4 months agoAfter some research others listings similar is US only so I am just making a guess that the part can't be shipped to Canada. Tell the seller to purchase it within Canada and in your case just sell the part to someone else.
