Canada Post shipping blocked, but eBay just accepted payment for shipping via Canada Post
I just made a sale and the US buyer paid for Canada Post shipping. When I go to generate the label it says Canada Post is experiencing issues and won't let me select that option. I was just at the post office and they said they are accepting parcels and strike is not expected until Friday.
What can I do? It was an inexpensive item and I would lose money if I ship with UPS or Fedex. Why would eBay keep offering buyers the option to ship if they are stopping it?
any suggestions appreciated.

·11 months agoNo i talked to my post office today. As of now all packages of any value going to usa from canada (and every other country) have to have a pre-paid us customs/duty number or canada post can not mail it.

from now on ANY package of ANY value has to have a pre-paid duty number ahead of shipping. Without this number Canada Post can not ship to the usa.

·11 months agoBasically part of trump’s way of discouraging foreign purchases for his citizens and to keep shopping at home. But this will also backfire as american buyers will no longer have the ease in dealing with international purchases they were used to. Once more insulating themselves in the process.

·11 months agoAs of now no more exemptions under $800 for minimis sales. Canada Post is now blocked from using its usa services because every package being sold to the usa from Any country now is subject to customs duties. And Canada Post’s labels aren’t set up for this and cannot be used!

This is being discussed on eBay Canada.
You can still buy labels through Shippo or the CPO site.
If you are signed up for Solutions for Small Business you will get pretty much the same discounts, although I think the SfSB discount for Tracked Packet USA is less generous than eBay's negotiated 53%.
At the postal outlet today, the clerk was fairly confident that my packages for the USA would make it across the border to USPS by tomorrow (From Victoria by ferry to Richmond terminal, then over to USPS) but doubted my Expedited domestic parcel would make it to Montreal before the strike.
Let's hope for rotating strikes.

Hey @delbooh! Canada Post services were removed as an option on eBay Labels when it was announced that strike actions would begin on Friday, to prevent items being caught in transit. However, eBay is not currently blocking, updating, or removing listings that offer Canada Post shipping. Buyers will still be able to view and purchase your items as before. We suggest proactively communicating to inform your buyer of the strike, using a different service, or -if it is not possible to use an alternative carrier- cancelling the sale without incurring a defect.

·11 months ago@devon@ebay So there is no communication to buyers or enhanced protections from eBay. It is soley the seller's responsibility to deal with it?
I guess no communication from ebay to sellers either. They only find out after making a sale of shipping via Canada Post. In essence eBay is allowing the sale of something that cannot be fullfilled?

Because not all sellers buy labels through eBay. eBay is not the only way to ship an item via the USPS, you can get a label at the post office, on PayPal, or PirateShip, or anywhere else.

You can still ship via USPS......just have to buy the label elsewhere.......... or you can cancel using "address" as the reason.......
