Buying
I'm new to eBay and don't know much about it, so I want to buy this car but it has to be shipped is there a way that I can check that this person is legit on ebay? They said it would go through ebay and ebay would send me information on the purchase.

eBay doesn't handle payment arrangements on vehicles. There's no inspection period because vehicles can't be returned. Scammers post fraudulent ads trying to steal gift cards.
When you do buy something on eBay the maximum gift card payment allowed is $1,000 on a single transaction. Cannot see the fake ad but I don't know of any vehicles that are running in excellent condition selling for less than a thousand bucks.
You were smart to confirm your gut feeling.
Forward the email to spoof@ebay.com and report the fraudulent ad on the site you found it on.

You probably saw a listing of Facebook Marketplace, or Craig's List, or some other site, and the "seller" told you that the sale would be finalized through eBay, right?
Think about that a minute, okay?
When you see what looks to be a fantastic bargain at Walmart, does a Walmart clerk then point you to go to Target, for the finalization of the sale?
No -- you complete a Walmart sale at Walmart -- because that's the only way that makes sense.

·3 years agoDefinitely a scam.
eBay does not store or deliver any items for sellers.

·3 years agoRun away! Run away! That's a very common scam. eBay doesn't work that way. Other posters will be along soon with details. Just stop communicating with this scammer.
