Buyer trying to scam me with dishonest feedback for item not even received yet
Buyer bought a used phone from me for around $250 - paid quickly, even had 100% positive feedback.
He requested me to ship with USPS, and I shipped the item with delivery confirmation yesterday January 10th.
This morning, this same buyer leaves me NEGATIVE feedback, with a clearly fake photo, saying the item was damaged.... as you can see from my feedback, I had 100% positive feedback no buyer problems until this ahole. I've been on ebay for years since the 2000's but on this account as a seller since 2023.
Bro you haven't even gotten yet, it's Sunday and the tracking # has not even updated yet.... this is a clear and obvious scam to try to get my item for free and say "item not as described".
I requested a feedback removal with this information. What are my next steps?

OP9 months agoOk, so they revised it, so hopefully it's fixed now. But it looked like they were trying to pull a fast one there.

·9 months agoAs mentioned above, I'd contact the buyer and tell him you think he made a mistake and accidently left feedback that was meant for someone else.
I'd be very polite and let him know that you already contacted ebay and told them that the feedback was left on an item that hasn't been delivered yet, but you also wanted to contact him too so he could leave the correct feedback for the correct person (and kind of play dumb, just letting him know you have already contacted ebay, just in case he is trying to scam you.)
If you don't get a response from him, I'd probably pro-actively Report Seller and have it on record that he's making false claims before the item was delivered. This may help you if he tries to file a claim.

·9 months agoI see the feedback...don't respond to the feedback in the feedback he gave you.
That just makes it worse.
We assumer he can't open a claim until 'estimated date of arrival'.
Was it meant to another seller?
Check feedbacks of his to see of other sellers and such.
You can photo the tracking of the item thus far and send that to the buyer...and do a heading like in the email :
'Hello (buyer name) and eBay'...although eBay won't do anything...maybe the buyer doesn't know that and might not pursued a return and maybe change the feedback.
Worth a try.

·9 months agoMy guess is that they ordered this item from one seller and found that it was damaged when they received it. They found another phone that you were selling and purchased it to replace the damaged one. They then went to leave feedback for the first one but accidentally left it for yours (the second one) by mistake. You might want to remind the buyer that the item they bought from you hasn't been delivered to them yet, and ask if they meant to leave the negative feedback for a different seller.
