Buyer selecting shipping option when "free shipping" is selected by seller | Shipping

I recently sold an item where I had set the shipping to free shipping but the buyer selected USPS priority shipping when I had listed USPS ground shipping. From everything I have read, I didn't think they could select a different shipping option. Is that incorrect and do I have to honor this?
