Buyer says item not delivered to freight forwarder but it has signature confirmation?
I have a buyer of a $700 laptop that says the item wasn’t delivered to his freight forwarder. The package shipment was delayed by a couple weeks (thanks Ground Advantage), but finally delivered after opening a ticket with USPS. They attempted delivery on a weekend and the business was closed, then delivered on Monday with indirect signature confirmation, signed for by “Authorized Agentâ€. The buyer says the freight forwarder still doesn’t have it. Do I open another missing mail claim? Also, I have Pirateship Shipsurance.

OP2 years agoThank you all for the replies. I gave the buyer a copy of the Proof of Delivery receipt, and told them that they can contact their freight forwarder and local post office if necessary. They are insisting that it was incorrectly marked as delivered, but it's out of my hands at this point.

·2 years agoIf it shows delivered, you are good as far as eBay is concerned, especially if you used signature confirmation.
If there is some issue locating a package after delivery we generally put the onus on the recipient to figure it out since we have no idea what their destination address (or even local PO) situation is.
Many times, especially with freight forwarders, we get messages from buyers that either think (or pretend) their packages haven't been delivered even when the tracking shows delivery. I personally think oftentimes the buyer will throw that out there fishing for a quick refund. We respond to those messages saying the package was delivered and I don't think we've ever had a follow-up reply.

·2 years agoThe item is delivered, so your shipping duties are complete and there is no role for insurance (since insurance coverage ends at the point of delivery to the freight forwarder).
The buyer just needs to be addressing whatever concerns they have with the freight forwarder that they hired.
If USPS website says it was delivered and signed for that is your proof of delivery. Insurance doesn't cover packages that are delivered.
Missing mail claim is moot since tracking shows delivered, so nothing is missing.
if the buyer opens an item not received case, they will lose, for using a freight forwarder and tracking shows delivery. Just make sure you upload tracking into the case.
