Buyer provided wrong address, now the package is stuck in limbo
So a couple of weeks back, I shipped out a package to a buyer across the country. I then got a message from the buyer a week or so later stating that there was a problem with delivery. Come to find out the buyer provided the wrong address and the package was deemed undeliverable due to insufficient address.
I told the buyer that whenever I get my product back, I would look into reshaping with the correct address, but a few days ago they messaged me basically asking if they could get a refund while they wait for the package to be returned and just rebuy it later. I obviously don’t feel comfortable with this. Question is, if the package never comes back to me, will I at some point need to issue a refund?

·3 years agoNo refund until the item comes back and you inspect it. I understand the buyer's position, but they provided an incorrect address

·3 years agoLet them know that you can not issue a refund until the item is returned. It's still possible that this buyer will get the item if they put a change of address at the post office. What does the tracking # show? Can you recall the package? If yes, once you get it back, deduct the shipping fee before you refund. If buyer complains, remind them that they actually lost their buyer protection when they gave you the wrong address and they are darn lucky that you gave the most of the refund. BLOCK that buyer.

OP3 years agoThe package did show return to sender, but has spent the last week going back and forth between Anaheim and Atlanta. So I’m not even sure I’ll get my item back at this point

·3 years agoWhy don't you go to the post office with the tracking # and see if a clerk can do something and get that box back to you. In the meantime, I would not refund that buyer until the item comes back.

Stick to your policy of no refunds until the item is returned.

personally I do not refund until the package is back to me.
how far apart are these two address?
If the buyer files for an item not received come back here and let us know. There’s ways to fight this.

OP3 years agoThe item is a psp game (guitaroo man) buyer paid ~50 dollars (shipping included) and they are in California, I am in South Carolina.
Like I said above, I don’t feel comfortable issuing a refund without first receiving my item. Just wanted to make sure I was thinking about this fairly.
