Buyer Opened Request Prematurely
A buyer purchased an item from us on Sunday, 8/20/2023. We have a three day packing and shipping window. Regardless, we packed and shipped the item on 8/21/2023. The UPS store where we dropped off the package was having internet issues that day. Apparently, this caused a delay in the tracking information.
The buyer opened a request on 8/23/2023 stating they hadn't received their item yet. As instructed in the email, I made sure the tracking information was provided.
My question is why eBay allowed the buyer to open a request at all. There is absolutely no way the buyer should be expecting delivery just three business days after the order. To begin with, that is still within the packing and shipping window. And, even if it weren't, the shipping window was four business days.
Does the buyer not have the option to simply message a seller? Am I missing something? It just seems a bit of an extreme action on the buyer's part.

·2 years agoIf you usually ship in less than 3 days eBay will base the delivery estimate on that.

OP2 years agoI do usually ship in less than three days so it is quite helpful to understand what is being communicated to buyers. Thanks!

·2 years agoI chose one of your listings and random and even though you have that you ship within 3 business days it shows me that if I ordered the antique fire engine pics today that my deliver date could be as early as Monday...which is before your 3 business days....

OP2 years agoThank you so much for providing this information. It does help partially explain what may have happened.
After I posted this, I found that the buyer (I think this is her first purchase ever) had provided the wrong address to begin with as well. Apparently, she was trying to head off the shipment and have it held at a UPS location.
