Hello, new-ish to eBay selling,
I have a buyer who wants me to ship items in 5 weeks because they will be traveling, but will pay for items now. Is this something we can do? its over $1k worth of items so i am weary and all the info I see doesn't really clarify.

The fact that it is $1k is a bigger problem, you are setting yourself up to lose it all without any eBay protection. I can illustrate the scenario for you, but it's best if you just don't go rogue in the first place

Tell them to reorder when they return, or just block them if you feel uncomfortable about the whole ordeal.

·1 month ago20 to 30 days to find a vacant lot so the parcel can vanish or find a dishonest freight forwarder who accepts the shipment but it doesnt get scanned as delivered because there in cahoots with the mail man or courier?

·1 month agoI doubt it is something this diabolical, but OP is within their rights to cancel as ebay requires them to ship sooner as per the user agreement.

If they want to buy your items now and absolutely have to buy it now and can't wait, tell them to have their mail held (if sending by USPS) or have it held by UPS or FedEx. They will still have to sign to pick it up since it over $1000, and you will have proof of on time delivery. It is probably best for both parties to wait, but there are at least ways to protect yourself.
Do NOT sit on an item 20-30 days without shipping. You will get a late shipping defect by eBay, and may be opening yourself up to all kinds of more serious problems.
Occasionally a buyer will buy something from me and want me to wait to ship. I reply with a polite, "As per eBay policy, I must ship next day, you can have your mail held at your post office instead. Or, if you wish, you may cancel your order." Usually they have their mail held, and everyone is happy (and protected.)

I don't see $1K worth of items you've sold yet so is this a potential buyer or has someone already purchased and paid?
Two ways to handle, depending on which of the above applies.
If it's a potential buyer who hasn't yet purchased: Tell the buyer that ebay requires that you ship within 2 days of payment (per your listings) and he'll have to come back in 5 weeks to make the purchase if the items are still available.
If a buyer already bought the items: Tell the buyer that ebay requires that you ship within 2 days of payment (per your listings) and if that doesn't work for them, you can cancel the order and they can come back in 5 weeks to repurchase if the items are still available.
You do NOT want to make a sale and wait 5 weeks to ship.
If the buyer isn't honest, even though he asked you to wait to ship, he can file INR long before 5 weeks pass and you'll be issuing a refund.

Why would @bulkybr_7 send an invoice immediately and have tracking and s.c.? Is that supposed to show shipment within the handling time?
If the buyer isn't going to be available to receive the item, why would he be available to get an invoice?
And what would stop the buyer from filing NAD claiming he received an invoice instead of the items he purchased?
This suggestion makes no sense to me.

·1 month agoConsider pulling the listing and reposting it closer to the delivery date. If the buyer pays now and you delay shipping for five weeks, it could negatively impact your seller ratings for late shipment.
