Bulk Edit Shipping %?
With a USPS rate hike beginning in 3-days, and expected additional rate hikes in the future, I would like to make the following suggestion to the tech team.
Please consider offering a bulk edit shipping "percentage" option!
This would be similar to the bulk edit price option of adjusting either the flat rate, or %. For those of us who have larger stores in the collectibles category that do not use calculated shipping, this would be a most valuable tool! Anybody else agree?

I use the same shipping rates for many of the items I sell.
I bulk edit the shipping policy based on a search for the item type.

OP4 months agoYes, that's a wise course if you're selling mostly ephemera. In my case, I sell large, small, light, heavy, oblong.. etc.

·4 months agoHere is an easier solution. Use calculated rates, plus a per-order or per-item handling fee. Every time USPS rates go up, your shipping rates will adjust accordingly. You can adjust the handling fee if your packaging materials go up in price. This may not be exactly the solution you had in mind but it ought to do the job I think.

OP4 months agoHindsight would suggest that to be an easy solution. However, that would imply that the box size and weight would have already been entered in accurately when originally listed, not accounting for combined shipping or other unexpected adjustments that may arise from buyer offers. Like many sellers, I try to pad shipping rates to cover packing materials or special handling without tacking on a "handling" fee that could discourage buyers.

Would eBay want to have the buyers pay more? Hard to say even if eBay would make more money as well.
EBay is a very peculiar company. Wondering what the round table conversation in an eBay exec meeting would sound like on this topic?

·4 months agoThat would be nice. I would use the discounted rate plus 18%. This would cover the eBay fee and allow a little something towards materials while being less than the retail rate
Maybe someone from eBay Shipping will read this and consider it.

OP4 months agoOf course, by default, no. However they do monitor this board, and if enough sellers discuss it, the chance of it being noticed and possibly considered is much higher than relying on the brilliant eBay think-tank. 😉
