Are sellers protected due to the current weather?

I already have one package that has arrived and departed PDX twice.

OP7 months agoYeah, I see that, and I did search for it, but I’m not using the right keywords. Weather…does search even work on the forums? Just wondering…lol!
Anyway, sounds think the rain is hitting here hard right now—just listen to that! If it’s raining this much in southern Oregon, everything north of us is going to be a wet mess, assuming the north doesn’t simply float away first.

·7 months agoNo need to search because it's pinned to the top of the shipping board.
However yes, it came right up when I searched.
Step 1, search for seller protection weather
Step 2, change the default search results from "best match" to "date"
Hope that helps @krazzykats .

OP7 months agoIf it's my eyes and fingers maybe not...lol!
I do scan for and read the announcements all the time, so must just be my eyes...sigh...getting old you know...ðŸ˜
But I am glad to know sellers are protected.

·8 months agoA little update on Washington weather. I live inland in the rain/snow shadow of the Cascade Mountain Range. It was predicted we'd get around an inch of snow this morning here. Well looking outside I see about 6 inches and now it's starting to rain.
No big deal for us retired folks here but if it's doing the same on the Western foothills on the other side.........................

·8 months agoI’ve already had to refund buyers for their packages being delayed. Rushed out Saturday to mail a package via USPS for my customer in California and checked on it today to see if it was still on track to arrive tomorrow and it says that it arrived in MA on Monday and then got shipped back to the Southern Maine USPS distribution center and that’s where it sits. Needless to say, I’m likely going to have another very irritated customer to refund. This is getting out of hand and I can’t afford to keep sending refunds to preserve my feedback rating for things out of my control. What shipping service is dependable and affordable? Who do you use?

·8 months agoEverything that is being shipped during the winter season should be wrapped in plastic bags.
That's what I do for shipping my items.
As far as delays...most buyers understand the delay of an item in bad weather conditions in the USA.
Current rain...by eBay I would think not...it's just rain.
I notice eBay does change the 'estimated dates of delivery' after the item has been sold...and has in fact changed the date several times just to play it safe for the seller.
Unless you don't play close attention to the dates like I do you wouldn't notice it.
And this is more or less items I have bought from sellers in the USA cross-country.
It's interesting how 'Winter weather impacting delivery' I see there...is it really the weather or the number of employees let go during this current fall season...namely UPS...and those understaffed hubs.
And wonder if shipping hubs hired any temporary staff for the season.

Well there's rain and there's RAIN. In Western Washington and the Cascade Mountain Range highways and bridges washed out or buried under mudslides. More to be expected.
Major disruptions in transportation. If it has to be transported on asphalt on any leg of it's journey...............???

·8 months agoWonder if it is a going east/carrier thing? The two items I bought and were shipped around the 10th, one from Ill. and one from Florida being shipped FedEx are only a little late. One of which just came through Montana and is out for delivery (Illinois). Will see how the one from Florida does should be here by Saturday the 20th.
