Am I Obligated to Refund Shipping on Returns? For Both Sides?
When a buyer decides they want to return an item, am I required to refund them for the original shipping cost?
Am I also required to pay for the shipping from the seller back to me?

·3 years agoIt can depend on the reason for the return. If the buyer chooses a reason which falls under a remorse return, then buyer pays shipping. If you accept returns than seller pays for all shipping. If buyer chooses an item not as described, then seller pays. If you are facing a return, it would be helpful if you simply explained what the reason was the buyer chose. Best of luck to you....

OP3 years agoIt was buyer remorse (he already had item).
So I don't have to refund any shipping?

·3 years agoIf the buyer paid the original shipping, you can deduct it for a remorse return.
If the listing had free shipping, they get a full refund.

·3 years agoA buyers remorse reason is that they changed their mind, found a cheaper item etc. Your return policy on the listing that I checked shows that buyer pays return shipping so they would be responsible for the cost. When you do the return you could also withhold the original shipping cost but only if the buyer paid for it. You can't withhold 'free shipping'.
But if the return was because the item was not described, broken, wrong item etc., then it falls under the money back guarantee and you would be responsible for the cost of return shipping and you could not withhold the original shipping.

OP3 years agoNo, it was an item where shipping cost more than the item itself.
It is a remorse return, meaning the buyer just decided they didn't want it.
It seems in this case that I should not be liable for the shipping cost.
