Alerts for shipping cost changes after the fact?
Recently switched most my listings to Fedex rather than UPS but now ironically am reading a bunch of horror stories about Fedex changing rates after the fact. I.e. being way off from the "calculated" cost. Do you get any kind of alert when this happens? A message? Anything? How do you guys track for this if Fedex charges after delivery?

·3 years agoI dumped FedEx for that very reason. I have never had that issue with UPS.

·3 years agoNope, no alert or messages. Your eBay account will be charged sometimes weeks down the line. It's always well after item was delivered and which is why I never use Fed-Ex. Best of luck to you....

·3 years agoYour alert is when you get a big extra charge to your account. If you want to use FedEx use your own personal account so you can dispute charges and fix problems directly with FedEx without ebay being in the middle.

OP3 years agoI think I'll just go back to UPS rather than deal with this nonsense

·3 years agoUPS does the same, but I don't think they are as bad as FedEx.

OP3 years agoI haven't had it happen to me yet (that I know of) with UPS. I was just going to try Fedex because it appears they're often cheaper than UPS. But now I'm scared crapless they are going to hit me with massive surcharges after the fact.

·3 years agoEbay FedEx often looks cheaper, but that is because ebay quotes are often incorrect. Plus it only takes a couple of serious errors to wipe out any apparent savings.
Look at PirateShip for UPS. Their rates are equal or lower than ebay discounts and rarely will you have any surprises. Plus any problem, even though still third party, is handle effectively.

·3 years agoSlight detour of a question. Do you know @rfmtm when one gets charged for their UPS and FedEx labels on eBay where they can see the breakdown of the charges (surcharges, dm wt, etc)?
Someone was trying to find it the other day and the transaction on the payments page just had the total cost. Would they find it on the shipping labels page? In an e-mail? Some other area?
Since I buy UPS labels outside of eBay I have no point of reference to check.

·3 years ago@wastingtime101 I also have seen this question asked, but never answered. Some of those details were available when you opened the shipping details, but now nothing much more than the total appears.
I also use UPS/FedEx outside ebay, but otherwise I certainly would want to have access to all that information.
