UPSP's new shipping fees. Not eBay's fault but....

Yesterday, shipping rates on eBay for rural locations went up by almost 80%. A package under 4 oz that used to cost me $5.50–$6.47 (which was already way too high) is now almost $9.00. I advertise free shipping and have always been willing to absorb or write off the shipping cost, but at these rates, there's simply no return on investment. I currently have 600+ items listed, with thousands more waiting to be listed. How is anyone supposed to survive these kinds of increases?

We need an immediate Shipping Solution to Rural Zipcode upcharges

We need an immediate way to add a option of charging a charge for rural shipping zipcodes, whether that is just a rule that says if it's a rural zipcode, a $xxx service charge will be added due to postal shipping fee changes. I offer free shipping on all my items. When a customer orders a $10 item or $12 item, my profit is maybe $2 after promos etc... maybe $3 but as soon as i have to start eating the extra $2-3 in shipping fees to rural zipcodes the profits get eaten completely. On my mushroom grow kits.... they are mostly to rural customers, so i am getting hit hard there. Soooooo my suggestion, like you can add fees for HI/PR etc... we need the same for rural zipcodes, integrating is up to ebay and usps databases, sitting by the wayside and saying ... sellers figure it out, is not the answer Either you want us to have free shipping, or you cut us out and just let your chinese warehouses sell the products with free shipping. Since apparently they get the $3.95 tiktok shipping rates we wish we got. in case you wondered, these rates of $5.24 to $7 is not the lowest... you can literally ship the same 4 ounce package on tiktok shipping for $3.75

      setting up combined shipping rules

i originally started off with flat rate shipping and set up a combined shipping rule, no problem. when usps raised their rates for the second time this year i switched to calculated shipping and set up a new combined shipping rule for that. when i create new listings or try to revise existing listings and come to the section to enter one of my rules, the only options shown are the rule for flat rate shipping or 'none'. the calculated shipping rule isn't available for me to choose. when i go to my shipping preferences page i can see both my rules set up. i went in and edited them to see if that would help and it didn't. i tried to delete the flat rate rule to see if that would force the combined shipping rule to show when creating listings but it won't delete. i hate asking customers to pay the new ridiculously high shipping rates and tell them i'll refund later. does anyone know what i'm doing wrong and how to get my calculated combined shipping rule to work?

ALL SHIPPING- USPS, FEDEX, UPS, ROUTINELY HANDLE PACKAGES VERY ROUGHLY

I learned the hard way by having a fragile item (glass, ceramic, porcelain) that I packed very well for safe shipping arrive in pieces, then I had to deal with the whole nightmare insurance claim process. Keep in mind when shipping fragile items that your box will be routinely- dropped, thrown and tumbled, possibly crushed but there is nothing you can do about that rare occurrence. The danger of rough package handling of course only gets ALOT worse during holiday shipping time- November & December.   So now I have learned to double box highly rare or highly valuable fragile items, or if not rare or highly valuable but fragile, at least pack the item very, very well in bubble wrap, use a large enough box to allow a minimum 2" thick of bubble wrap inside the box on all sides. Double boxing- First I pack the fragile item very well in bubble wrap in the first box, place this box in the outer box with 2-3" of bubble wrap all around the inner box. This will nearly guarantee the fragile item arrives safely, whereas not double boxing no matter how well packed in bubble wrap, you take a significant chance the item arrives broken. I would guess about 1/3 of all fragile items on earth have been destroyed only due to poor packing since the internet/selling websites began in the mid 1990s.   Finally, I heard a rumor that shipping process workers and/or delivery people intentionally ignore FRAGILE type stickers and in fact treat packages so marked extra rough, out of spite, but this is just a rumor I heard about. It could be true so now I don't use any type of FRAGILE sticker, as they may be malevolently acknowledged or not even considered, in other words your FRAGILE sticker package is treated exactly the same as all boxes with no FRAGILE type sticker, or at least you should assume so.

      worthless packing for shipping

why do many, many, many, many, many sellers continue to use worthless shipping containers with no protective cushioning material so that items are damaged during the always rough handling of all packages that all shippers do?

      USPS PRICE INCREACE

📦 Updates to USPS Mail & Shipping Service Pricing  Ground Advantage: although USPS is changing how it prices packages under 1 lb, the good news is eBay Labels will continue to offer the same four weight tiers with no rate increases at this time. Rates for packages over 1 lb are also unchanged. This is what eBay posted regarding the price increase effect 7/12/26 - Just went to print labels for shipping on Monday (our post office isn't open on Saturdays!) and found the price of the label needed went from $6.75 to $840!!!! How is this NOT CHANGING THE PRICES????

USPS Priority Small Box Flat Rate Also Affected by Rural ZIP?

So I got my first rural ZIP code buyer since the new USPS changes. I usually use Ground Advantage. Just for comparison purposes I looked at Priority Mail Flat Rate Small Box which I only occasionally use. Back in April I notice that Priority Mail Flat Rate Small Box was $9.80. Today I see it's $12...I knew there was an 8% fuel surcharge on priority mail recently, but $12 is a whole lot more than 8% increase....Is this an EBAY bug resulting from the rural zip code changes? I thought Priority Mail was not supposed to be affected by rural zip codes. Thank you.

How to cancel a shipping label and add more insurance to the new label

Hi! I had a customer who said they were done bidding and paid for their items. And after I printed the shipping label they decided to bid on more things that will bring the price of the items to $350.00 instead of $95.00 Can I cancel my shipping label? And how do I cancel it and get a new label? Does EBay refund me for the label I won’t use? And will I be able to add extra insurance when I buy the new label? Any help is appreciated. Thank you

ebay store "ShipCycle" is just selling your international returns, good or bad items...

I've seen ebay launched their own store called ShipCycle, And pretty much all the store does is resell all of the international returns that come back when ebay "handles" your International shipping program returns. They refund the buyer themselves and the seller doesn't receive the item back it must go to a warehouse where eBay goes through the items and list them back up on eBay for resale through this ShipCycle account. I sell used car parts and i will give you an example of some issues i am having with ebay doing this. I sold a used engine computer to a customer that was international , Shipped it with the eBay International Shipping Program , The buyer messaged me saying it was defective which we verified it was through some messages back and forth . So they put in for a return which eBay handled by refunding them and taking their item back themselves . A month later I see the same engine computer listed on the shipcycle account, and they are using all of my pictures from my original listing for their listing! So now they are going to sell it too an unknowing buyer who is going to purchase it And it's going to be defective (because we already deemed it defective). And information is on listing pictures? mine. Ebay is selling items returned as defective, as good items (for the same price i had it listed it). and since my info is all over the listing pictures im afraid buyers can complain and it can somehow come back and negatively effect my business.... am i overthinking it?Anyways sorry for the long rant does anyone else agree that they should change they way they do things? Or have you like me seen one of your returned listings on the ShipCycle store knowing it is broken or defective? : Rant over:

Freight Forwarders & USPS Delivery Scans...What's Up???

I know earlier in the year items delivered to some freight forwarders (especially Doral/Miami area) the USPS was refusing to update the tracking to Delivered status and simply left it hanging at Out For Delivery (which did not bode well for INR claims by these buyers). The USPS would also repeatedly reject all insurance claims for lost mail using the excuse that the address was a mail forwarding agency (which does not make any sense to me...I mean it's a legit business with a legit address). After being burned a couple of times by this scenario I had to ship everything to these FFs with Signature Confirmation which does get a delivered scan on the tracking BUT costs me an extra $3.95. My main question is...is this still happening or has the USPS changed there stance on this and are now reliably updating the tracking to Delivered status? Who here has RECENT (last couple of months) experience with FFs and receiving USPS Delivered scans without using sig confirmation? If you are not getting them, where is this happening (city)? If you are getting them, where is this happening (city)? Just for the record, I refuse to use Fed Ex or UPS so please only reply with your experiences using USPS in the last couple of months please. Thank you for your time.

      New USPS shipping rates 7/12/26

The below message is per Ebay in their messages. Yet today when printing ebay labels, for a 4 oz envelope, we are being charged as if it were 15 oz! So what is unchanged.

      Please Test My Shipping Rates

I switched from fixed rate to calculated shipping this morning. Would someone please test my listings and report the shipping charges when adding 1, 2-5, and 6 items to the shopping cart? It does not matter which listings you choose. Here is what I expect if I have done the setup correctly: 1 item- Zone-based GA with eBay discounted rates for 3 oz 2-5 items-total shipping charge should stay the same as 1 item when additional items are added to the shopping cart 6 items- should change to free shipping. Thank You So Much!
