Illustration of how Dimensional Weight Affects Costs

For the heck of it, I plugged in a shipping weight of 4 oz and a box that was 24x24x24 inches. (note I do ship things that large on occasion but certainly not that light). USPS cost for an ebay label was $224. Fed/Ex was something like $65. Sellers really need to change their thinking that weight is the major factor in determining shipping costs.

Why isn't eBay using the 9- digit zip code for tracking?

Currently eBay uses only the 5 digit zip code to track all USPS packages to prove delivery. With todays technology, why not utilize the entire 9 digit zip to help stop the fake tracking scam? It's not a full proof solution, but it is far more accurate than what is in place now, and doesn't seem like a hard thing to implement with USPS shipments. I believe shipping labels sometimes have the 9 digits, why not the tracking fro proof of delivery, too?

      Free shipping and free returns?

Hello and happy Friday! I am new to selling on eBay and wanted to ask peoples opinion on offering free shipping and free returns on new women's clothing... My feeling is that it might make it easier for people to return something knowing that they don't have to pay for the return fee, but at the same time, it's a very lightweight product unless it's jeans or a heavy jacket… Thank you in advance

Heads Up – USPS "Rounding Up" = Hidden Rate Hike

Heads Up – USPS "Rounding Up" = Hidden Rate Hike Just a heads up for anyone shipping with USPS through eBay Labels. The July 12 update changed two things that are quietly costing sellers more: Rounding. USPS used to round dimensions to the nearest whole inch. Now they round up — so a box that measures 16.4" x 12.4" x 9.4" is billed as 17" x 13" x 10". DIM divisor. Changed from 166 to 139. Same package, more "weight." The example USPS gave says an 8 lb package is now billed at 16 lbs dimensional weight. That's not a rate increase — that's phantom weight. If you offer free shipping, you are absorbing that cost. I am adjusting. I suspect others will need to as well. Anyone else seeing this hit their bottom line yet?

      USPS PRICE INCREACE

📦 Updates to USPS Mail & Shipping Service Pricing  Ground Advantage: although USPS is changing how it prices packages under 1 lb, the good news is eBay Labels will continue to offer the same four weight tiers with no rate increases at this time. Rates for packages over 1 lb are also unchanged. This is what eBay posted regarding the price increase effect 7/12/26 - Just went to print labels for shipping on Monday (our post office isn't open on Saturdays!) and found the price of the label needed went from $6.75 to $840!!!! How is this NOT CHANGING THE PRICES????

Fee says .78, label prints .74

So, I see the fees increased. Ebay standard shipping is $.78 now. When I buy the label, it costs .78. Makes sense. When I print the label, it prints at .74. What gives? Is the envelope going to make it at .74? I'm confused.

Ebay broke fed EX label printing. Ebay changed the code

Ebay has changed the fed EX label code for printing now, so that the label is so misaligned to the right side of the page I can no longer print fed EX labels.

Late Shipment Defect due to eBay Standard Envelope Scan Issues (North Carolina to Maine)

I am seeking advice or an escalation regarding a denied late shipment defect appeal (Reference SR # 1-506907419963) that was rejected by an automated system. The system denied my appeal because tracking for ESUS340882146 did not show a scan until July 6. However, the logistics prove a late shipment is impossible: My Location: North Carolina First Tracking Event: Origin Processing in Scarborough, Maine (near the buyer). It is physically impossible for a package dropped off in North Carolina to magically appear hundreds of miles away in Maine for its first scan without already being inside the USPS network. I dropped this envelope off on June 27 in the exact same batch as another eBay Standard Envelope order, which scanned normally and arrived on time. It feels incredibly unfair to receive an account defect because an origin sorting machine missed an envelope scan, especially when the geography of the first scan proves the item was well on its way. Could a community manager please help escalate this clear tracking anomaly for a manual review? Thank you! @devon@ebay @kyle@ebay @valeri@ebay

      Platform Shipping Wars

A non-compliance HazMat fee of $50 will be implemented by USPS starting next week. Today, I received an email from another reselling platform letting me know that they will be covering all of the HazMat fee up until July 31, and then starting August 1 they will cover $45 of that fee, with the seller only owing $5. I ship HazMat items correctly, so it does not impact me. But, between that benefit and the upcharge to rural ZIP Codes that won't apply to certain other platforms, I think this puts eBay in a position they should not be in, given they are the #1 reselling platform. They should be leading the solutions for resellers, not following behind while smaller platforms take the reins on this issue. Just some of my thoughts when it comes to what to do about the rural ZIP Code situation. Changing from flat rate to calculated is not an option at this point. It would be too time-consuming to go back and input weights and dimensions for 1,500 listings. eBay's programmers should be writing code right now to implement into the UI an option to upcharge rural ZIP Codes.

      eBay holding me hostage

Hello eBay community. About a month and a half ago, I received a notice that i had underpaid for shipping and was being charged an adjustment. When looking into the adjustment, I was being charged an additional $2000!! The claim is that the shipped item weighed over 350 pounds. This item, which weighed about 30 pounds, was packed in a cardboard box and I carried it into the ship station with one arm. Either I am super strong, or this is bogus. Needless to say, of the dozen times I have called eBay customer service, every representative has agreed it was bogus and after the second call, they said my claim for a refund was approved. That was well over a month ago. I’ve called another 10 times, and each time they make a promise that my refund is coming and every time their new deadline passes without any refund. I am at a loss of what to do next. This caused me to be late on my bills this month as I worked to scrape extra money together to cover the money stolen from my account. Anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance.

      Shipping Overcharged

I recently sold an item that I estimated at 2 lbs 4oz. Ebay calculated and charged the buyer $5.89. When packed for shipping weight was actually 1lb 11oz which I corrected when purchasing the label through ebay. However, I was charged $8.18. How or why would that happen?
