I stopped after a few days back in September coz I was getting pennies charged on items that had no views.
I cannot find any links that say how this works.
Is the percentage also applied to the customer's sales tax?
Meanwhile, my sales have stopped. Am I being punished?
Thanks

·2 years agoPromoted Listings Advanced is a pay per click ad model. It's very different from Promoted Listings Standard which is a pay on sale ad model. For the types of items you're selling I would not recommend PLA. Stick with PLS if you're going to pay ad fees.
Info about PLA: https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/listings/listing-tips/promoted-listings-advanced?id=5299
The stuff you're selling is very niche, but it seems to me you'd see a higher volume of sales in Nov/Dec for those that need to fill out their sets for the holidays. That is, if your prices are competitive with the constant 'deals' throughout the season. I know nothing about the pricing for your category.

OP2 years agoI appreciate the info about Promoted Listings Advanced. I'm glad I got out when I realized something didn't seem right for me.
As for Promoted Listings Standard, I have used that in the past and recently. A few times I would use a different account and search for my items. And, occasionally, I could see my items when looking at other stuff. So I though it must be working. Yet, when I narrow down the search, I always see my items placed as they should be according to my sorting preferences.
Yes, my stuff is niche. Been selling from 1967-2013 in our store and on ebay since 2000. Sales have steadily decreased over the years as fewer peeps are interested in high end flatware and sterling silver Christmas ornaments. Yet, I have still done well overall. Of course, if I had time to list all my inventory, which would be over 2000 items, sales would be great.
My pricing for new items is usually equal or less than a competitor's identical item. And, that always puts them less than many of the used pieces of the same type. There's always used at much higher prices as well.
My best three best months of the year are #3November, #2 January and #1 December. December is always 2-3 times more than the others.
Yet, September was up from last year, but this October was less than half. Currently, there seems to be very few views, even though I am highly competitive with similar listings. I have even sent offers that result in nothing. I'm wondering if peeps are holding back, worried about what's going on in the middle east?
So, I'm vacillating between doing PLS or just doing nothing, as many suggest, because they believe they sell just as well with no ads.
Again, thanks for your insight!
