You see some pretty strange stuff as a ebay seller.
I had someone buy 3 items from me today in 2 separate orders.
The items were $6 S&H for one. $2 S&H each additional.
Because it was 2 orders he paid $14 S&H instead of $10 S&H.
I was going to combine the orders and give him back a $4 refund,
but then I noticed the usernames were slightly different, like "username256" and "username579".
Same name. Same address. How strange.
I ended up packing the orders separately and not giving him any refund.
I didn't want to hold up the order trying to get ahold of him.
Would you have done the same?

I’ll ship everything just as ordered, sending the items separately unless the buyer asked to have them combined.

The orders are from different accounts - maybe the payment methods are different for each unique account.
And I agree about not holding up the orders.
Still - kind of strange because ordered at same time to same address.

·4 months agoIt’s likely the buyer registered two user IDs for whatever reason and likely made the purchases from two different devices, each device auto logged in with the different accounts.
The cost of the item would determine what I would do. If it’s a low priced item, I’ll just put it all into one package. You are unable to upload tracking for one of the orders because of the username discrepancy, so that’s the risk. I just make sure to upload the tracking into the more expensive purchase.
If the items are high priced, I’ll send them separately to cover my butt. Also if the addressee name in the postage label is different from each other, I’ll separate the shipments as well regardless what price they are.

·4 months agoCould those have been guest accounts? My understanding is that you can't make multiple purchases with a guest account.
...and yes, you can't combine shipping of purchases from two different buyer accounts and then be able to apply the same tracking number to both.

·4 months agoGood thing you did it that way because you CANNOT combine (add the tracking number to the 'other order') from a buyer that uses 2 different sign ons. I got caught doing that a few times and had to eat it, open packages, repack 2nd item, purchase new label etc. HUGE headache!

Sellers can't satisfy tracking requirements by combining orders from different buyer IDs.
Departments within a company or a university need separate transactions for the costs to be allocated to different budgets properly.
Would you have done the same?

Just to cover your "southern-most anatomical area" from issues with your seller dashboard "Tracking uploaded on time and validated" score, you probably did the right thing -- better safe than sorry!
This has happened to me only once previously (that I have noticed, anyway!), and there may be several reasons for the multiple orders from the same address, but with different eBay names: new eBay buyer who doesn't fully understand the order process; different individuals at the same address; or. . .who knows?
Unless your buyer(s) have an issue with excess shipping charges, do nothing.
And -- on a personal level -- hope you're in a safe area from all the flooding in Hawaii!

Of course not! The buyer(s) did not ask you to combine packages, nor did they as for a discount.
If two different eBay accounts make two different purchases, I always ship two different packages.

·4 months agoYes, I do the same when it happens. A few times, I noticed it was other sellers. Maybe trying to get their feedback count up? Who knows.
