You Know You're Getting Old When...
My wife and I were moving some stuff out of a closet where we keep some of our memories such as photos, kid's projects, etc. There was a suitcase that we thought was empty, but in fact was full. Curiosity got my wife, so she threw it on the bed and opened it. As I'm knee deep in the closet, she says, "it's only your old clothing", I'll put it in a bag for Goodwill.
Of course, my immediate response was..."how old?" She them pulls out my old Members Only jacket. I told her ..."It's ready!

-You go to straighten out the wrinkles in your socks and discover you aren't wearing any.
-You and your teeth don't sleep together.

·1 year agoAhh yes. Back in the days when clothes didn't self destruct after a few washings. Levis even suck now compared to the ones I wore in high school. I remember having to beat them against a wooden pole for awhile then wash them a couple of times before they wouldn't chafe me raw or dye my legs blue.

OP1 year agoLol....yep, and you could never sneak up on anyone because they would hear you coming.

·1 year agoI can't believe how fast time flies. It really is a weird sensation when you look in the mirror and see someone old looking back at you. I still feel the same from behind my eyes as I did when I was in my 20s. (Of course a few more aches and pains)

·1 year agoYou also know you're getting old when ... you forget your own age. 😉

I can't get one leg in the waist.
I remember when you walked it was "zip, zip, zip, zip''.

·1 year agoDon't knock the stuff you used to wear. I found my old Doc Martens jean jacket from the late 80s in the back of a closet. Got a good price for it, not to mention the bragging rights that it still fit!

·1 year agoMy stuff still fits, too. Kinda funny - when I was young I was about a size 10. I was mocked and negged for being "fat" and a "big chick" (by guys, natch). Well, now I'm much older and still wear the same size/dimensions and it's all "Wow, you're fit!" and I look good jabber jabber. People are just dumb.

OP1 year agoI think the best part was catching my wife's eye-roll and her barely audible comment "you would sell me if you could".
🤔....I decided to remain silent.

IAC, the 90s clothes from my closet that I *have* sold (not young enough to carry the styles off anymore) has gone for $$$. But it's all the cyber/goth/punk stuff. I'm still wearing the UFO and Maharishi stuff, though.
It's always a good idea to clean out those closets and attic spaces, though! I've found some real treasures simultaneously with thinking "Crud...where has all that time gone?"
