woke
I had to stop selling on eBay because the woke employees steel my money in favor of a convicted thief and burglar. He stole two of my items ($145.00) and eBay stole my money and gave it to him. After 24 years with eBay they crapped all over me. Another BUD LIGHT?

·2 years agoSo when I was looking for work I was competing against 80,000 fake job applications being sent out as a research project.
gurlcat
·2 years ago🤣Yes. In fact that job you applied for at Napa Auto Parts is now occupied by a researcher posing as one of the fake names he submitted on a fake resume. It started out as a dare from his colleagues, but after a few days on the job he realized how much happier he was, kinda like Kevin Spacey in 'American Beauty' was, working a fast food drive through window.

·2 years agoThat in an of itself seems very problematic and delayed some real people from landing some jobs.
chapeau-noir
·2 years agoYou were probably not in direct competition with 80,000 fake people - they threw a pretty wide net.
gurlcat
·2 years agoExtremely wide. 10,000 job positions (so that's only 8 fake apps per job) AND spread out over the course of 3 years. Also the experiment was only to measure CALLBACKS, so either they just had a voicemail set up to collect the callbacks (and then not return those calls) or someone answering the calls but saying they already found another job or something. So no real competition whatsoever.

·2 years agoHi @fineinteriors1
Your account goes back to December of 1999, well, I'm impressed ... now on to business. I see your listings state that you don't accept returns but I would assume as a long-time member you know eBay has several return reasons that trump the No returns accepted setting. I am against using it as a general return policy, I think it has its place for two of eBay's Grading choices in their Item specifics ... they would be:
-Junk value - parts only
-Restoration required
I also see that your FB history is showing 100%, that's a good thing. For myself I've had a few bogus returns over the years but at the end of the day they are few compared to overall sales on the venue, part of doing business. And to that point, it is business, not personal. I switched to offering 30 day Free returns years ago and it was nice to have Seller protections in place when Buyers tried to take advantage of the system ... I am thankful that has been rare. I am sure you are familiar with these: Seller protections | eBay

·2 years agoDude seriously thinks the accented English he hears on the phone is about diversity, equity, and inclusion??? Pfff, they would hire talking parrots if they could find headsets small enough and the birds accepted lower pay than whatever the Asian call center people get. Same with all corporations. Soooo woke. Did I already say 'pffff'?

·2 years agoWas this the "Wright & McGill Stream & Lake #88A. Made in Denver, CO. USA. (#134832952775)"
If the buyer did not pay you, why did you ship?
Or was it the"Pflueger Medalist 1494 fly reel, Sculpted pillars, w/extra spool (#134908319700)"
BTW. leaving a false positive is not allowed and the buyer can have the FB removed and you would get a Defect.
You have a lot of problem transactions in the past six months.
More than most members have in a decade.
Can you think of what might be the common point in all of them?

·2 years agoThis is the first time I have seen someone leave follow-up replies to their OWN feedback. LOL I didn't even know that was possible! Also I've never seen someone air their departure-from-eBay intent as part of their feedbacks, let alone feedbacks to random other sellers that they bought things from. If I got one of those from a buyer, they'd go straight to my BBL, even if they did also say "Great seller, fast shipping" etc. Come to think of it, I just thought of something I need to go do ..... ta ta!

OP2 years agoNo, It was two medalist reels sold to z wheet. He scammed eBay and me. Sent back two reels I never seen in my life and he kept the two I sent him and then eBay gave him the money back too. I'm out two reels and $about 150.00 cash because eBay employs woke weeklings. The tracking proves everything. I even signed an affidavit with photos per Ebay's request and they still screwed me. Now I have to get a lawyer involved. It's all **bleep** Seller protection is a myth. The co is going down hill fast and they take from good sellers and give too crooks.
robbie31415
·2 years agoThat isn't woke.
Woke is a real issue but not your issue.
You have no evidence you sent what you claim. Go ahead and get a lawyer and spend the money.

"More D.E.I. hires That have zero H.R. skills or are just too lazy to do the job."

"too many "equity hires" at eBay"

"DEI hires are bad.
Hiring should be based on merit."
Unfortunately, for far too long "merit" was defined as "white."
And the new brand of politicians want to drag us back to the 1950s.
No thanks.
Been there -- done that.
robbie31415
·2 years agoUh huh.
So we shouldn't use merit because they did false merit previously?
If you think hiring should be based on physical characteristics over capability I don't know what to tell you.
monroe67
·2 years agoWow. If somebody did all that to me, I wouldn't have anything more to do with them either.
This assumes, of course, that you did nothing wrong. Isn't there somebody else currently in the news who proclaims that almost daily? "I did nothing wrong!!"
I would be more likely to blame the individual (thief/burglar) who wronged me, rather than a corporation.
eBay usually has very good safeguards in place to protect all its users from thieves and burglars.
But everybody has to follow eBay's rules in order for those rules to be effective.
As for the beer, no thanks. Not today.

·2 years agoAttacking the OP for not using words that you can better identify with is not useful either. Why do some that reply to OP's have to take the attack to a personal level when they use a certain word or misuse sentence structure? It was a free country last I checked which included freedom of speech. Just say'in. They are just words. No one is special here.

·2 years agoAttacking the OP for not using words that you can better identify with is not useful either.
------------------------------------------
Can you point out the attack?
1786davycrockett
·2 years ago@oldwestgold
"It was a free country last I checked which included freedom of speech. "
The concept of "freedom of speech" applies only to political entities that attempt to curtail written, spoken or symbolic forms of communication -- and eBay is not a political entity.
So the First Amendment is not applicable to this thread.
And whether or not this is a "free country" is open to interpretation. Since we are a nation of law and order, individuals are not "free" to do or say anything that they choose.
ten_o_nine
·2 years ago@oldwestgold
My previous response was intended to provide guidance, rather than accuse or attack the OP.
mam98031
·2 years agoFreedom of Speech does NOT apply to Communities like this one. Ebay sets the rules for the Community, not the government.
Freedom of Speech is the right to express yourself verbally or written without concern of government censorship or restraint.

·2 years agoIf anyone stole your money it was the person you sold to that filed an allegedly false claim. It was definitely not eBay.
rosachs
·2 years agoIf the OP has solid evidence to support the claim of theft, then there are numerous avenues to explore:
- File a claim with eBay, showing your evidence that the shipment was delivered. That's usually my #1 step at work, and it's quite often the only step needed.
- They could file a claim in Small Claims Court and get a judgment against the buyer. Not sure how helpful that is unless you know or can hire someone to collect the judgment.
- They could file a police report is the buyer's home town, supplying the department with all the evidence needed to determine if an investigation is warranted. They may also have additional information for the OP on how to handle this type of situation with an out-of-town police force.
- If the shipment went thru USPS, you can file a claim with the Postal Inspectors and ask them to look into it. If there's a pattern, your claim could be the last piece they need to actually prosecute.
I'm sure there are more options, but with so little detail to go on, you have to lood at 'broad stroke' options and then finesse from there.

·2 years agoI had a fairly expensive item stolen due to a sale facilitated with one of the sites thieving buyers - I contacted other sellers who had left false positive feedback to get them to file reports in the hopes of getting the buyer booted - I discovered a large number had already reported the buyer for the same crime - There were likely many more reports from sellers who I could not, or did not attempt to contact - 90 days down the road the buyer was still thieving with impunity... If thats not the site's fault then then I dont know what is...

·2 years agoIf we're talking about false claims of damage, you can thank the snake oil salesmen of yore. Due to pressure from scammed citizens, whose money had been stolen by shady mail order 'businesses', the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) put in place a consumer protection. Which is: If the customer did not receive their order, did not receive what they ordered, or did not receive it in the condition shown in the catalog, the seller must 'make the customer whole'. Which is to say, the seller must reship or refund.
This was on the books long before eBay, long before the Internet even. It's those "bad apples" that spoil the pie for everyone. There are occasions where the seller can require return, usually by prepaying postage (but not always), and then refund or return only after the returned item is received. The glaring hole in that process is that there is no way to ensure that what is returned to the seller is what the seller sent to the customer. He said, she said.
I'm not sure what eBay's reporting threshold is for getting a buyer booted, but I'm pretty sure they set it rather high and will not share that value "for security reasons". Ie - they don't want the scammers to know just how much they can get away with before the better stop and start a new ID.
The anonymity of the Internet emboldens a lot of people to do things they would not do if they had to look you in the eye to do it. But there are still those who will lie to your face with a flinch or a second thought. Not much you can do about them, especially online, where you can create an eBay buying ID with just an email address and a credit card. If buyers had to be vetted the same as sellers, it might just reign in some of this "anonymity abuse" that runs rampant.
And if you think eBay is bad... you should see the results at Amazon.

·2 years agoI still don't understand "woke" in a sentence to this day.
I only know "I woke up" in bed or such in a sentence. I feel sorry for children understanding this.
If there is a problem with a buyer...you try to work it out with the buyer before eBay gets involved.
I prefer ðŸ·.

·2 years agoI think of it this way... I'd rather be woke up/concious to live my life on my terms and making my own decision, than to spend it sleeping/unconsciously following someone else's right/wrong decisions. I realize that it's easier to let someone else tell you what to think... but I've never really understood why that's considered a good thing.
We definitely need more details before any assistance can be rendered, which presupposes that the OP is actually interested in finding out why this happened and how to try and avoid it in the future without running away from one site to another with basically the same rules.
Oh well... each time a seller leaves, 2 more shall take their place.

·2 years ago"Woke" is an adult word which some politicians use.
As an uncle to 4 boys(all under 10 years of age)...it's not a word I would use in relation to anything other than getting up in bed and such. I prefer not to confuse the young.
It's a made-up word of politicians who use it freely and run for office or are in office.
chapeau-noir
·2 years ago"Woke" and "Stay awake" started being used in the 1940s by African Americans to mean staying awake, being aware of issues of justice. It continued to be used to mean being aware, not anesthetized, not a follower, not stupid, until a certain political sector got hold of it, and tried to turn it into a slander. Now it's anything they don't like.
Being "woke" has nothing to do with this situation, though.

rosachs
·2 years agoA made-up definition for a perfectly normal word, used to describe made-up grievances and to further divide the population. The easiest way to control a population is to keep them fighting amongst themselves so they have no time to keep an eye on you. By the time they figure it out, it's too late.
-Bob.
robbie31415
·2 years agoYes, which is why politicians will always press that button, especially during election times.
Emotion eliminates rational thought.
It's a great manipulation tactic. ðŸ‘
chapeau-noir
·2 years agoThe original use of it was not 'made up' though and was to recognise real grievances. Back in the day, to 'stay woke' meant to keep safe when African-Americans needed to travel in segregated areas, for instance - be aware of your surroundings and what things mean. It's just recently been **bleep**ized for political use and now just means anything that some don't like.
But you're right - the elite keep us plebs at each other's throats, fighting for scraps (either real or ideological) while they run off with the banquet. It's the old bread and circuses gambit, and distraction is the name of the game. Rather than "stay woke" I would say "don't get distracted."

Instead of name calling and finger pointing, could you please slow your role and let us know exactly what happened? What makes you think they're woke? Who cares if they're woke...this is business. Woke has nothing to do with business, it's a persons outlook and it doesn't apply here on eBay or any other internet platform. eBay doesn't steal anyone's money or items.
Please come back with a clear head and let us know what the situation is so those who take their time to volunteer can help.
