Winter Storm Fern
I am in Texas and all my post offices were closed. Roads all are still a sheet of ice. And all area schools are closed again tomorrow. But the shipping date for my sale still says "SHIP BY Jan. 26". I am going to do TIME AWAY just to save my good selling record.

·8 months agoYou are lucky that the post offices have never closed until this storm. If the roads are extremely icy, they can't deliver the mail because it's too dangerous and it is too dangerous for employees to drive to get to the PO. Or perhaps they lost electricity.

OP8 months agoI completely understand why the post office closed. I lived near Cleveland, Ohio, for 30 years and have seen a lot of winter storms. After 35 years of living here with no post office closings, I am not at fault for not being able to predict the USPS closing today. We have had plenty of winter storms here and I never had a problem getting my eBay items out. I just scheduled TIME AWAY and all is good now.

·8 months ago" They have NEVER closed here."
I lived in East Texas in the early 80's and experienced similar weather. Everything came to a screeching halt.
Never say never.......................

·8 months agoI remember one time in the early to mid 70s when my Dad was stationed at Fort Polk in Louisiana and got a little snow.
A little dusting, wasn't even enough to cover the ground and they had shut down the whole town because they didn't know what to do or drive on it.

OP8 months agoI really thought the eBay Community was a place to go for help and encouragement,
but obviously, I am wrong.

·8 months agoConroe. Used to be a short drive from Houston. I hear it's just a suburb now. I also lived in Houston for a bit.
I don't know if the PO was closed but I do know there was no way I was going to find out. I think I was in Houston when that weather hit. A car flew off the road, went airborne and landed right on top of my neighbors car. One thing I've learned over the years is when the roads are icy in climes not used to it just about everything comes to a halt.

eBay will protect your status due to the storms
You might consider putting your items on Time away to increase your handling time.
Time Away
eBay is aware and will protect your selling status, but I suggest you be proactive and extend your handling time to prevent issues.

OP8 months agoI just added the TIME AWAY - it starts at 4:00 PST, so I have to wait until 6:00 (CST) here before Time Away actually kicks in. But I probably won't sell anything before then. So, maybe only one of my sales won't be shipped out on time. Thanks!
