Why the eBay international standard delivery is charging more for the shipping label? The eBay Charge me $41.00 instead of $16.00 shipping label.
Summary: topcousa shared an issue about being overcharged for shipping labels when using eBay International Standard Delivery. They were billed $41 for a package weighing 7.9 oz instead of the expected $16. Despite having a USPS receipt confirming the weight, the higher charge was applied. krazzykats suggested the charge came from the shipper, and advised to address it with the post office. gurlcat found the charge excessive and questioned the use of eBay International Standard Delivery over eBay International Shipping. kandf_vintage_finds recommended using eBay International Shipping to avoid such problems.
I shipped something small (7.9 oz) internationally by using eBay international standard delivery to China. It was supposed to cost me $16.00 for 8 oz and that is what I paid when I purchased the shipping label and sent out the package on Aug 27, 2026. 2 weeks later, I was charged $41.00 for that shipping label.
Post office Clerks always check all the packages to make sure the price and weight and size is accurate. I have a receipt from post office for that item, which shows the weight was confirmed as 7.9 oz.
Here other case that I noticed after I shipped the item using the eBay international standard delivery:
Aug 31, 2026 - 8 oz - $16.00 to China charged me $41.00
I am sure there are more cases which I can find if needed. I have the receipts from USPS to prove them. Where is the eBay Customer service? What’s going on?
Thank you,

·Sep 16, 2026 at 6:55 PMUse EIS for international shipping. This problem then goes away.

·Sep 16, 2026 at 5:32 PMThat is insane. Even $16 for 8 ounces would be insane, compared to if you just used eBay International Shipping, never mind this uber-crazy add-on of $41.
Why use EISD when it does this to you? What advantage has it ever given you over EIS?

·Sep 16, 2026 at 5:29 PMeBay didn't increase the cost, nor did they ship it, they simply passed the upcharge onto you from the shipper.
I would take it up at my post office and go from there.
