Why order details for sold item is confusing ?
Look at this [Removed by Moderator]
It says (under what you earned) that ebay collected from buyer some kind of GST.
I dont know what GST is and i dont care.
What i care about is: It says ebay collected that from buyer and they collected that from me too ?
According to my none asian calculator, thats exactly what they did.
They collected it FROM ME, the seller and wrote it as if they collected it from seller.

As everyone else here has already said - the GST was not deducted from your earnings. It was deducted AFTER it was already added. That's why it was subtracted from the $907 and not the $825.
I know we all like to blame ebay for anything and everything but sometimes you just need to look at the numbers with a clear head.

eBay didn't collect it from both of you.
Your order total was 907.50. If you take out eBay's Transaction Fee of $112.60 and the Shipping Label of $25.82, your final earnings are $686.58, which corresponds perfectly to your sales price of $825 when you mathematically add those two earnings deductions back to your final earnings of $686.58.
The charge of $82.50, which the buyer paid extra to you, cancels out to zero (except for eBay's transaction fee % attributed to it). What you see is a simple zero-sum accounting of the GST for your records and to help you, the seller, see the disposition of all the moneys that went into your transaction.
The buyer was charged the extra GST. The buyer paid it to you by paying more than the sales price, and you paid it back thru eBay to the taxing authority. It's simple in-and-out credit and debit accounting with eBay in the middle so they can get their fee % out of it for the GST tax payment service they perform for you.
Cheers, Duffy

·7 months agoThe customer paid the tax, and eBay deducted it from their payment.
You got the amount leftover after all the taxes, fees, and shipping costs were taken out.

·7 months agoGST stands for Goods and Services Tax. The term is used in Canada and Australia where it is a federal sales tax.
The money is part of the buyer's payment.
It is assessed, collected, and remitted to the appropriate tax authority by eBay.
Neither you nor your customer has to do that work.
And it is work, there are more than 200 taxing authorities that eBay works with both in the USA and internationally.
You are charged Final Value Fees(FVF) on the customer's ENTIRE payment, which includes purchase price, insurance, taxes, and handling charges.
This is the Standard Practice in the payment processing industry, and has been since the mid1950s when Diners Club effectively invented the credit card.

·7 months agoYou are not being charged twice. Customer paid (purchase price + GST tax). Tax money never goes to the Seller. This is why GST tax was deducted from your total (along with transaction fees + shipping costs).

·7 months agoTop part shows what was paid by the buyer:
Ebay collected the $62.50 GST from the buyer and it was added to the total payment you received.
Bottom part shows what you receive:
But if you look at "what you earned," you'll see the "-" minus sign, meaning they deducted it from your payout because ebay forwards it to the government. You don't get to keep that money.
(You'll see similar in-and-out for sales tax too.)
