Why is selling on eBay so sporadic?
I have periods when I sell 5 or 6 items in one day then dry periods that can last up to 3 weeks, so frustrating. I try hard to make good pictures but still my sales are just not popping. That is so boring not to have any offers, views or traffic on my site even though I still promote my items, eBay drives me crazy. And there is those crazy random returns that come out of the blue on the last day of the return window and I never can depend on sales to provide the money for the refund, so tired of eBay having to list items everyday and maintain it daily for so little in return.

·2 years agoPlacement in a search result "seems" to rotate over time.
Our sales sort of go in spurts like you experience.
However, it's not so much the typical sales cycles based on the economy or any typical external factor.
It's more along the lines of eBay manipulating the search results AND sellers manipulating the search results.
I can list 100 car parts in one week. All of these parts are off of the same vehicle.
The next couple of weeks, about 20 of those parts will sell.
The next couple of weeks, a few more will sell.
Then crickets.
Around the 90 day mark.....surge in sales of those parts.
And then nothing again.
With another small surge several months later.
What I find more interesting? During a time with no sales on those parts, I can check SOLD listings, and other like items have been sold from other sellers. (more expensive and/or worse quality).

·2 years agoIt answer is always - it is because of what you offer and or how you price.
Some sellers do not offer enough items to make consistent sales.
Some sellers offer items which there are a limited number of buyers looking to buy.
Some items have many competitors.
Some items draw buyers who only buy when they have extra money after buying what they need. Some can only buy at the end of the month.
Some responders might nitpick your listings. I won't. They appear to be good enough, The most important factor is what you choose to sell and how many different items you offer.
