Why Doesn't eBay Allow Discover Bank Cards for Express Payouts?
Summary: The discussion was about why eBay doesn't allow Discover Bank Cards for express payouts. Participants shared their thoughts and experiences, but no specific solution or official explanation was provided.
I have a Discover checking account; therefore, I have a Discover debit card. With a company the size of eBay, one would think they would have the capability of adding Discover debit cards as a method of receiving express payouts, but you can only set up express payouts to Visa or Mastercard debit cards. I can't be the only seller here with a Discover checking account. Has anyone figured out a way to circumvent the express payments to Discover issue?
Additionally, Capital One acquired Discover in May of 2025, and will be transferring all of its customer banking accounts to Discover, including issuing Discover debit cards to all of its customers. Unless eBay adds Discover debit cards to express payouts, anyone with a Capital One checking account is going to find themselves in the same position I'm in. That's millions of people who would be unable to receive express payouts, and fees eBay will miss out on charging people. You'd think with as money hungry as eBay is, they'd be taking care of this.

I never knew Discover even had a debit card or a checking account.
I closed my account and got other credit cards.
I have 2 debit cards...with two banks...which are like checking accounts.
If you are over 65...US Bank has free debit card with no minimum balance

·9 months agoThey want the Express Payouts feature, which shows up in a few hours or sometimes less, but costs $2 per payout. As explained by @eoma689485 though, that can’t be enabled by eBay currently.

·9 months agoThe store I used to work at did not take Discover for one reason:
They charge more to the merchant (ebay) than other credit cards.

·9 months agoeBay uses Visa Direct and Mastercard Send - Discover does not operate an equivalent instant‑push‑payment network that eBay can use, and currently Discover does not support push‑to‑debit instant transfers. It appears it is a Discovery issue, not an eBay issue.
