Why Does eBay Restrict Selling High-Risk Items?
Summary: The discussion centers around eBay's restrictions on selling high-risk items like electronics and branded products. nimraijaz6 expresses frustration with these limitations, while others highlight that such measures are in place to prevent counterfeiting and protect buyers. mam98031 suggests strategies for increasing seller limits, while pickapaper and others point out issues related to counterfeit goods, particularly from sellers in areas without official distribution. The conversation also touches on the broader challenges of selling fake products online and the implications for sellers lacking manufacturer authorization. Participants discuss alternative online marketplaces as potential options.
eBay often restricts the sale of high-risk items such as electronics or branded products, which can be frustrating for sellers looking to expand their offerings. While these restrictions are put in place for various reasons, including legal regulations, intellectual property rights, and buyer protection, they can also limit business opportunities.
Have you experienced challenges when trying to sell these types of items on eBay? How have you navigated these restrictions? Do you think these policies are fair or overly restrictive? Share your thoughts and experiences, and let’s discuss possible strategies for compliance and successful selling on platforms like eBay.

·1 month agoAs well as counterfeit products being risky for these brands, there is the risk that a seller is selling versions of the product which are not identical to the product sold in the U.S.
They may differ solely in packaging or lack testing and regulatory compliance, their warranty may not be valid in the US or be for a shorter period than the US warranty.
The rights to the brand may belong to a different company in different countries.
Ebay will resist the requirements for proof of manufacturer authorization to sell as long as it can. But it may decide to go down the path Amazon, Walmart and other marketplaces have gone.

·1 month agoApparently the policies aren't restrictive enough as you're selling nothing but fake items, have multiple negative feedback for doing so, have had listings removed as counterfeit and yet somehow still have an active account...

·1 month agoLooking carefully over your feedback and listings I see a pattern that perhaps could help you.
Every single thing in those listings is something that is available as a counterfeit. Almost everything in those listings are items that have no legitimate source in Pakistan, as Pokemon does not have any distributors or stores serving Pakistan and Starbucks has no locations there.
3 feedback out of 14 total are for selling counterfeit merchandise.
Attempting to sell fakes through online venues to America largely does not work, and everyone attempting it gets shut down pretty fast. The true "market" for those fakes is directly imported in bulk to swap meet and mall kiosk sellers who only deal in cash and whose customers generally know they are buying fakes.

·1 month agoI can no longer see any listings. Yesterday I reported one of the needohs they had that had a stock photo for pic 1 and another real pic showing a box of very fake needohs. I rarely have reports work, but this was removed by CSR and within 10 mins.
Now this person is spamming the forums with these inane posts..
