Why does eBay allow fraudulent buyers?
I sold a vintage Apple Macintosh Computer on March 16, 2026. I looked at the feedback the buyer leaves for sellers, and every piece of feedback for his purchases was negative, and how the seller didn't use enough bubble wrap. I thought, well, one guy can't have that many problems. Nonetheless, I emailed him and sent pictures of the package that we paid UPS to bubble wrap for us. I also made it clear that he can cancel the sale if he's that concerned about problems, as it appears he has lots of problems. Sure enough, he opened up a return today and stated the item was cracked, sent pictures, but claims he can't find where the cracked pieces are in the box. I know it wasn't cracked. I know how much it went into packaging that item. By the way, he sells the same items he buys. So I know he's taking legitimate, clean parts and returning broken parts, yet eBay still allows this guy to buy/sell here. It's very blatant and obvious. Even his contact phone number isn't legit. What can I do?

·5 months agoIf it really was damaged and you paid the UPS Store pack it, they are on the hook for the damage. Have him open a return and send it back, you are on the hook for the return even if they are lying. UPS should reimburse you for the sale value of the item, if they packed and shipped it.
If you see a buyer only leaves negatives for sellers, you should block them immediately. Negative feedbacks left for sellers by a buyer should be a rare occurrence, if ever. A string of negatives shown a pattern, it is a huge red flag. A buyer like that is a guaranteed loss of money and time, and probably tons of unnecessary drama on top of it.
