Why do I get charged 12.8% just because I live abroad ?
Looking to sell two very expensive watches on Ebay UK . The watches if sold would be posted from within the UK ... but because my registered address on Ebay is in France where I live ... I'll get charged 12.8% of the
final selling price ? Why .. Any way round this ??

·1 year agoI guess they have been looking at the UK ebay ads which bang on endlessly about selling for "free".
Those ads leave a lot of the details out but the key is, it only applies to UK private sellers.

Doesn't matter where you live, you'll be charged their fee's.
Only way around not paying the fee's, don't sell them on Ebay.

Sounds like somebody has a service / business carrying listings over to make shipping cheaper? EBay fees are just like taxes, you owe them until you die.

·1 year ago@dawlish24 Why exactly would you think you would not be charged eBay's FVF when you sell something on their platform.
When you sell an item eBay adds the item price you charge + any shipping amount you charge the buyer + any sales tax the buyer owes on the purchase and totals it up.
The seller then pays a Final Value Fee (FVF) 12.8% +.40 handling charge for using eBays website & services.
It has nothing to do with where you are located, your address or where you are shipping to/from, that is just what it costs for everyone who sells on eBay.
The only way around that is to not use eBay to sell your item.
