Why am i paying international fees?

When you create a listing, it says "ebay international shipping - send items to our domestic shipping hub and we'll handle the rest- at no extra cost."

So why am i seeing international fees with payouts?

The buyer will be charged any US domestic shipping and handling costs that you specified, as well as international shipping, and other fees as determined by eBay. Import fees may be collected from the buyer at checkout or on delivery, either through customs or directly by the carrier. These charges include any customs duties, taxes, brokerage, and other fees.

International fee

If your registered address is in the US and you offer eBay International Shipping for your eligible listings, you won't be charged an international fee when your eligible item sells.

If you're not using eBay International Shipping to ship your item, we charge an international fee if either:

The delivery address for the item (entered by the buyer during checkout) is outside the US, or
The buyer's registered address is outside the US (regardless of the delivery address for the item)

This fee is calculated as 1.65% of the total amount of the sale and is automatically deducted from your sales.

If your registered address is not in the US, please refer to the fee page for your country or region of residence for your international fee information.

I looked at several listings and those I checked have EIS.

ETA: I'm guessing that the buyer didn't like the price of EIS to his country and opted for a freight forwarder, thus the international fee.

I see the same thing but I do not see that there are other options offered on the random ones I checked.

Yes, but if the buyer chose a domestic freight forwarder, they just input the shipping address and it ships at the domestic (GA) shipping price that we see.

Ok, I see what you mean. If buyer uses their own selected freight forwarder then they are not using EIS so the 1.65% international could apply.

Is this the 1.65% fee?

Can you post the item number of the item you were charged the international fee for? Maybe someone could see the shipping used and explain why the international fee.

There is no international fee ONLY when EBAY does the international shipping through EIS. If you or freight forwarder ship to "foreign country" this fee is NOT waived.

There are some instances where you would be charged "international fee".

- customer is registered in foreign country (even though ship to address located in USA).

- customer used a "freight forwarder" (ship to address USA) and freight forwarder ships to foreign country.

When an item is sold/shipped using eBay's International Shipping, eBay's International Fee will not be charged.

It sounds like your item was not sold to a buyer who agreed to eBay's International Shipping.

eBay's central International Shipping hub is in Illinois. Was the item's delivery address in Illinois?

If the delivery address was not at that shipping hub in Illinois, and your buyer's eBay registration is not in the USA,

you will be charged eBay's International Fee.

No it doesn’t, when shipped via eIS. Or rather, eBay absorbs any additional processing charge.

But even if eIS is enabled, if the shipping address on the order is a US address (not eBay’s hub, but a buyer-specified US address), whether they are traveling in the US or using a freight forwarder or shipping to a friend, and their primary account address is outside the US, the 1.65% international fee will apply.
