Who works for who?
I feel like I'm working for Ebay instead of it being the other way around. Ebay has no problem taking money from me, but issues when it comes to paying me, saying they have to verify my bank account.
They also automatically re-list my unsold, even though I don't want them listed because I won't be available to ship them should they sell on the auction end date. And forget about trying to contact a real person at Ebay. . .

·3 years agoThe feature for new sellers where auction format listings automatically relist up to 8x without any insertion fees is within the seller's control to turn on or off @antgri_2741 . When you choose to leave that feature on, there is nothing stopping you from manually ending those listings at any time.
Unless an item is in high demand to warrant multiple bidders, most items are better listed as fixed price instead of auction, and eBay offers a 'Time Away' setting for those fixed price listings so you can hide/pause them while away.

·3 years agoYour first mistake was coming to Ebay and not reading the rules. You have to set up Managed Payments. You need to set up a bank account and verify it with Ebay. The rules were clearly stated when you registered. You will NEVER see a cent of your money until you comply. Ebay may ask for a valid ID too and your social security number. Nobody here wants to hear that you do not want to do that or don't feel safe. Virtually all of us seller here with other IDs. I have 2 selling IDs. I gave ebay what they wanted. I get my money within a day or two of being paid. No issues.
Also, I don't know what you sold but you are a new seller and ebay has the right to hold your funds for up to 30 days. It said that too in the agreement that you agreed to when you registered. If you do not provide the information that ebay wants, they will keep the money for months. Eventually, they will turn it over to your state tax dept. and then you can crack your head trying to get it from them. It's much easier and faster to get it from ebay by giving ebay what they need to make Ebay safer for all.

·3 years agoNobody truly "works for themselves" unless you get to the point where you fully automate and/or hire enough people to keep the business that you created running whilst you collect a check every month.
With that being said, I work for myself and have my own business were I use eBay as a broker & partner of sorts to facilitate sales of what I'm trying to sell.
So far this has been great. In exchange for about 15% of my gross sales I get access to 7 billion eyeballs, photo storage, free marketing(well not technically free but much cheaper than if I had my own website), ability to run sales, coupons, shipping discounts etc...
So yea, unless you have started a business and hired every single position out to the point were you get a deposit in your bank account every month without having to "work" then regardless of what you do, you work for someone whether that's your customers or an employer.
I look at it as I'm working for my customers to make sure I list/sell what they want and deliver on that and eBay is my partner to connect me to said customers and in exchange eBay gets a percentage.

Ending listings is pretty easy to do......

·3 years agoI had to verify my bank account...no big deal. Easy to get to 2 different debit cards from 2 different banks these days...bank account problem solved.
