who pays for return postage if buyer changed their mind?
I should know this but I don't . I see we have the option to issue a partial refund. Not sure if we can deduct the shipping . In the past I let it slide but this return is a heavy book that cost a chunk of money to ship.

·11 months agoWhen you process the return, you should see a toggle whether to deduct original shipping from the refund or not. For a remorse return, you would deduct the original shipping. Buyer gets item price.

OP11 months agothank you, I didn't know that. I hope my returns continue to be sparse. Returns for any old reason are rife on Amazon

·11 months agoIf you do not offer free returns, You can deduct the shipping cost from the refund, Is the way I understand it.

·11 months agoIt depends on how your returns are set up -
If you offer Free Returns, you pay all postage no matter what the reason is. You also refund in full.
If you have Buyer Pays Returns, you will still pay for Not As Described return and refund in full. If the buyer uses "changed mind" then the buyer pays to return the item.

OP11 months agoIt was a "changed my mind". Ebay automatically accepted it. I do accept returns but this time I do not want to eat postage both ways just to be lazy or nice. But I do not know if they paid to return it or I did. Label says no postage required but did ebay charge me for the label and then stipulate a return where buyer got the total back including outgoing postage? I don't see a charge in my transactions page. But I did find two returns I know nothing about!

·11 months agoYour return policy is for buyer to pay return shipping. Also, since you charge separately for shipping, you don't have to refund the original shipping charge. So the refund is for the item price only.
Ebay didn't charge you for the label. The price of return shipping will be automatically deducted from the buyer's refund.

OP11 months agoI just checked, I have buyer pays for returns. So can I deduct the shipping or was it paid already?

Only if it's used will it be charged. And with your policy, the price of the label will be deducted from the refund/purchase price. You don't have to do anything about the label - just refund when you get it back. And again, it's your choice whether to refund original (separately charged) shipping.

I now have a problem with 2 orders that were refunded and I never heard anything about . Possibly condition though I disclosed condition. If the buyer says it's defective does he get a refund with no return?

·11 months agoIf the buyer opened an NAD case, you would have sent him a prepaid label if you wanted it back and would have refunded in full when you received the return.
If you didn't want it back, you would have refunded and let him keep it.
We don't know from your message exactly what happened.

OP11 months agoStrike that question, I made a stupid mistake in going over my transactions. The refunds were for combined shipping refunds. Color me clueless.

If you shipped the book at USPS Media rates, USPS will return it to you marked "Postage Due," charging you the same amount you originally paid.
I just received a similar return a few weeks ago, which only cost me an additional $4.47. Obviously, I passed on this additional charge to the buyer, instead of a full refund (less original shipping plus eBay shipping fee).
With that in mind, do you really want the book returned?

·11 months agoThe return USPS "postage due" charge would only be charged if the item was "undeliverable", or "refused", or such.
The USPS "postage due" for MM does not apply to an eBay item being returned via the eBay returns process.

·11 months agoIt depends on how you have your returns set up -- go to your business policies and look at your return policy/ policies. Those heavy books can be $$$
