Where do you store your inventory?
I know some don't have space at home and have rented space for inventory. This theft was not of items owned by a seller but some of the comics were listed and sold on eBay. Just want to give a warning, the times they are a changin'.

·1 year agoThat story sounds to me like a case of two very stupid people.
The storage unit renter was stupid for both putting his incredibly expensive comic book in a storage unit and then cluing someone in to the fact that he did so.
The crook was stupid for immediately trying to flip the stuff in the most public and traceable manner possible.
Card store I used to work in had a break in one night the two young thieves ignored the most valuable items and instead stole as many of the new $39 Yugioh boxes that they could fit in their bags. Then then went home, opened them and tried to sell the opened cards back to the same store the next day while the police were still their investigating the break in. They were still wearing the same clothes they had on in the security footage.

·1 year agoHuh? People have been stealing stuff and listing it online for years.
The remark about the fees WAS funny, though.

·1 year agoI can't speak for other sellers but in my case I've become (or have always been) a bit of a hoarder, so anyone coming to steal for profit is going to be looking at some stashes of STUFF... And I understand some will come with a big box truck and just load everything up and sort through it later but all that involves work and I'm pretty sure most thieves are looking for an easy buck - something they can quickly get rid of for good amounts of cash and doing that in my space isn't as easy as loading up the most valuable items because it's all kind of sort of a big bad mess.
Well, an organized mess but in one room you may have to step over things carefully and don't break an ankle.
So I mean, if they want to come out and load up they should get started because it will help me declutter in a massive way, heck on a really good day I might even help them load!

·1 year agoI for sure don't have space since I moved in with my daughter and her kids, but all the listed and current/more valuable inventory is crammed into every nook and cranny I have here.
The rest of the unlisted stuff (mostly long tail) is in a storage unit which hopefully I'll get to before I kick the bucket.

·1 year agoNo self respecting robber would even think about entering our home (where most of our waaay too much inventory is stored) due to the excessive barking of our two very mouthy dogs. Unfortunately, they are mini-dachshunds, so not sure they'd be able to do much if an actual invasion occurred.

·1 year agoYou just reminded me of the joke about the guy that broke into the house and the parrot kept repeating that Jesus is watching him. Turns out that Jesus was a very large dog that came bounding out of the shadows. LOL

Pretty creative with space in the house.
Someday I'd really like to get rid of the tandem bike in the living room, though.

·1 year agoAll of my stock is stored in the finished basement of my home. A would be robber would have to try to steal my items by going through me holding my second amendment right.

·1 year agoThat is just awful!!! I'm so glad they figured it out and arrested him.
I have a very small inventory here in my office and everything else is in warehouses. There is nothing of value here, whatsoever, which is a good thing because we are listed on Google maps, including directions and parking!!! However, we have had our CC info stolen by an ex-employee of that warehouse. We got him because he ordered from a few food establishments in MA. So nobody is really safe anymore. Very sad world we live in.

·1 year agoInventory is stored at the brick and mortar store (which is very secure, nuff said).
Stuff that belongs to me like the postcards and stamp lots which are bulky and take up tons of space are in my office and basement, but they don't have any value to steal...

Garage remains unlocked. Hopefully someone will come steal things and make my life easier.
Even have some empty boxes there for loading up to carry away.

Impossible to find a parking spot as well...
I thought about what to sell before selling for easy storage...stamps organized in shoe boxes.

·1 year agoI rent a storefront and carry insurance and have a monitored alarm, oh wait, it's a store! Yeah gives me a place to buy and sell from and most of my inventory walks in on its own.

Of course, organized, boxed, numbered.
When I try to tell someone living here ‘if anything ever happens to me’ and start pointing
I am met with glazed eyes (no-one cares about my inventory)

·1 year agoThis was a funny line:
"Police also found a diary of hers (his girlfriend) containing an entry July 27, 2024, about selling comic books, saying, “He had a sale on stolen comics … for 8000$ but was upset he has to pay eBay 1200$ for the sale,â€

Personally, my dog, Molly, likes visitors so much that she'd probably help them find whatever I have that's worth stealing.

·1 year agoIts harder than you think if they come to our house to grab inventory its kinda overwhelming. I know if they come to my house to steal they dunno where to start. And for thieves they dont want to stay in one place for long..
I used to store my comics in a 10x30 storage unit, only to find out how easily Storage units get robbed. Three years having 2 units, the place has been robbed 4 times. Luckily my unit look like a pile of crap so they avoided it. And now my comics filled up my living room.
