·2 years agoI agree that feedback is a legacy of the 20th century internet when buying online was edgy and scary.
ZOMBIE THREAD FROM DECEMBER 2023.

·2 years agoExactly why I haven't listed my next batch of 'clear out my old stuff'. Didn't want to deal with the holiday emotional issues. I'll resume it in January. Not in a major hurry to sell it. so not fussed about missed xmas gift opportunities.
That aside, the response to the feedback did ten times the damage the actual feedback did. At least.

Oh your reply is shameful to that buyer, just shameful. Nothing more to say.

·2 years agosmart thing you can do for yourself is reply with your factual side of the story, block the buyer and move on. you got about as much chance of getting a negative removed on this site as i do hitting the lottery.

·2 years agoDo you really want future potential customers to see you calling other customers "stupid"?
BTW It's "couldn't care less" not "could care less".

·2 years agoI know this is called the seller board, but I fear buyers read it too. So that title alone makes me cringe. Sorry, but I personally need and appreciate buyers.

·2 years agoOnce I see an item is on the way I don't fault the seller for anything that may happen due to postal negligence or slow shipping because I have enough common sense to know a buyer has no control once it's shipped. I'm expecting two packages and I hope they get to me by Christmas, but if not, no bid deal because I understand shipping is slower this time of year.

·2 years agoI constantly check that my packages arrive on time, & Yes the postal service can really cause you headaches, but I contact their service help line, & inform the customer everything that I can find out, & in turn the customer appreciates the extra help in tracking down their package, & it helps USPS to be more diligent in doing their job!

·2 years agoOne thing I have to mention is that is usually offer ground advantage or UPS, given the increase in rates, with priority as a second option. No one and I mean no one ever upgrades to priority for faster delivery!

·2 years agoThe OP's responses to feedback are a prime example as to why eBay cut off allowing negative feedback for buyers.
theteamsetguy
·2 years ago@lakefor94
EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
adkhighker
·2 years agoThat contributed to it, but one of the main reasons eBay cut off negative FB for buyers is because of the retaliatory negative FB that sellers would often give to buyers in return for the negative they received from the buyer, even if the negative the seller received was deserved. Since eBay made the big change, though, buyers are no longer afraid to dish out negatives to sellers and that's probably a good thing as long as the negative is honest and deserved by the seller.
OTOH, as a seller, I don't think eBay has gone far enough. I can't see any point to even allowing sellers to leave any FB for buyers, period, because all that so many of us sellers do nowadays is leave them phony baloney FB telling buyers how great they are right after they pay us, never knowing what the buyer will do afterward. From what I've read on this board in the past, some buyers even get insulted if they don't receive any warm and fuzzy FB from the seller, so they refuse to leave any FB for the seller in return...or worse. Maybe someday eBay will wake up and remove the option for sellers to leave FB for buyers, which would be one more improvement to the FB system, IMO.
(This is not my selling ID)

·2 years agoIt's better to just sleep on it before posting a doltish reply to a negative feedback. Other potential buyers reading your comment may be hesitant on placing an order with you.

·2 years ago@dptedora
The responses to your negatives will cost far more sales than the negative itself.
Next time consider turning the negative into a positive with a professional response. Might consider getting someone else to write it for you.
femmefan1946
·2 years agoSince it will arrive a better Response would have been "Paid Dec 7 Shipped Dec 8 Received Dec 19." or whenever tracking does show delivery.
That would make the seller look impatient and you look professional.
I would consider turning the responsibility for Feedback over to a trouble shooter with a more relaxed attitude to problem solving.
Remember your Responses are only read by your future customers. And all your Responses show an inability to take responsibility for problems.
iamalwaysright
·2 years agoI wonder if the comment is removable by violating the feedback policy that you can't refer to other transactions outside of the one that the feedback is linked to.

·2 years agoYour responses (though as a seller I can completely understand the frustration) … wow … unacceptable to call your buyers stupid like that.
Even if/when you feel like they’re being this way, it’s very unprofessional and certainly reflects badly on (you) the seller.
None of us can predict what a buyer may say, good, bad or indifferent. Take a break, walk away, think before you type. Decisions made in the heat of the moment, rarely turn out good.
NOTE TO SELF: Please read above and take my own advice, because stupid is always around the corner! 😂
heckofagame
·2 years agoYour feedback responses may hinder sales more than any comments the buyers make. Hostile responses make you look defensive and may add credibility to the buyers' feedback comments.
frugalmarketplace
·2 years agoYour comment was awful. Grow up and act like you are professional. At least try.
slati_2013
·2 years agoYour response was terrible. It is worse than the negative you got and it is like giving yourself a very bad feedback. Always sleep on it and be calm before your respond to a negative. And just the facts professionally written.

·2 years agoOn a related stupid buyer note, I have a guy who bought something from me yesterday (Sunday). He also sells on ebay too mind you. I shipped his package this morning and he messages me all peeved that the ETA he got from ebay said 12/21 - 12/26, and the USPS tracking status shows estimated delivery on 12/26.
He's flying off the handle because he says he won't get the package by Christmas and I'll be expecting a negative soon. Again, this guy is a seller too.
Happy holidays!

·2 years agoTell him to go to his PO and ask for a Enteral tracking scan of it it will have the correct information.

·2 years agoDealing with Christmas gift buyers like the one who gave you that silly negative is why I never list anything during the month of December if there is the slightest change that it can be perceived as becoming someone's Christmas gift. For that matter, I rarely list anything after the first week of December, period. Too many annoying requests from buyers who seem to come out of the woodwork in December.
lilyswan2
·2 years agosome sellers have christmas specific items...i think putting in listing item arriving for christmas is not a sure thing and then changing handling time to like three weeks out might help...maybe put every effort will be made to ship quickly but this time of year delivery days are uncertain...
pjcdn2005
·2 years agoThat is frustrating but...Next time you reply to a negative, think about it for a few days. Keep in mind that it is prospective buyers that are reading your feedback replies. Calling a buyer stupid probably won't help your sales.
cardsforauction
·2 years agoIf the package was shipped the same day on Dec 7th then I could understand (that would be 11 days) however I'm thinking the package was shipped a few days later. As a seller, I would contact the PO immediately to ensure the package is on its way to Nebraska. They will do the locate package research thing and then get back to you and most likely the package will be on its way. Just apologize to the customer and tell them the PO misplaced it and hopefully you get it by Saturday. It's worth a shot.
buyselljack2016
·2 years agoA bit late for that. Replying to feedback calling a buyer STUPID does little to cement a good relationship.
cardsforauction
·2 years agowell the OP bit the hand that feeds him. The OP should have attempted to handle the customer in a normal customer service related way. Name calling did not get the OP anywhere but down in the dumps.

·2 years agoThe Tracking scan's on both ebay and USPS website aren't exact to where the item is . Both you and your buyers need to go to the P.O.'s and ask for the enteral scan's . You may find out it never left your neck of woods or has been missed sent on the way to buyers or got lost. I have been here about lot of issues the USPS has going on from Verys P.O. supervisor's that packages where shipped to me from and gone off the scan Rader . from what they said that they are having large number's of Ground advantage parcels and containers get lost and missed sent . ebay seller's going to get INR case's and will lose them because Ebay doesn't use USPS enteral tracking scan system just their website . to give extra time of transit do to delay issues . I had a seller that I paid more then enough for priority mail that was in the listing ,but his packer down graded to Ground advantage that went off the radar and USPS opened a case .I had a INR opened .it so bad ebay jumped gone on case to my favor when I ask them to wait based on the enteral tracking and chance for delivery . it showed up the enteral scan had showed it went to several other locations as missed sent . . Seller complained to me about the INR . Had shipped priority mail I would have had it on time . I did pay the seller for the items .

·2 years agoYou chose the carrier and the service for the item.
You are responsible for safe and on-time delivery.
You have sold 100k items on Ebay so this should be no surprise.
We can tolerate your venting here. Please continue until the need passes.
ltldpr
·2 years agoI agree with everything except that we are responsible for "on-time delivery".
I still have a certified letter that I sent Feb 12, 2021 from outside Houston to a suburb of Dallas that's out for delivery.
I have no responsibility in that mess.

You DO if you SOLD something to someone and tracking shows they never received it. Not my rules but is the rules on this site.
maxine*j
·2 years agoAnd not eBay's rule, but the law of the land. It is part of The Perfect Tender Rule in the United States Commercial Code, under Article Two. [Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) § 2-601]
The UCC requires "perfect tender" by the seller -- delivery of the goods to the buyer, and those goods must precisely meet the terms of the contract. This is defined as the seller's "primary obligation." So, damage or loss may not be a seller's fault, but it is his responsibility.
We buy insurance with the carrier so that if the buyer's merchandise is lost or damaged, we can refund the customer and then be reimbursed by the carrier.
I know that you know all that, but just to clarify it for the great many sellers who do not seem to.
