When do I get out of "Below Standard" eBay jail?
eBay has rated me "Below Standard" for products that buyers claimed were not delivered. I provided replacements, and two of the three actually thanked me, but they received them too late for them to close their cases. I see now that I had only 30 days to appeal with their responses, and I'm well past that window. How long do these cases remain part of my seller ratings, and when do I get out of eBay jail?

·3 weeks agoYou need to be reviewing your information on the Seller Dashboard in the Seller Hub so that you ALWAYS know where you stand and IF there is a problem heading your way, you might be able to be proactive and fix or stop it from becoming an account changing issue. I usually recommend that sellers review this at a minimum of once per week.
Make sure you look at each section [down the page too, as the entire info will not display on one screen]. Each section has the ability for you to see the details of any infractions that are affecting your account in detail. So look closely at what is in front of you because there is LOTS of information.
As to your claims. If a buyer is filing for a return, it does NOT matter the outcome of that return request or if it is opened or closed. The fact the buyer felt the need to open one is what counts against you. Again you can see this on your Seller Dashboard and you can read about it in more detail regarding the standards of the Service Metrics we ALL must deal with. Here is where you can see the affects of the Service Metrics Dashboard on your account and here is the Service Metrics Policy.
Again when looking at any Dashboard full of info. Review it slowly and completely. There are options in some places for different types of info that can be important. The DETAILS can be critical. Assume NOTHING.

Basically it could take up to a year if you have no more defects. Are you being charge the additional 6% for fees?

You get out of the "below standard" penalty box when the %age that got you there gets back into the eBay acceptable range.
You will have to look at your "seller dashboard" to check the %age.
It will take many sales to even things out for each "defect", or eventually the defects will drop off. Time to drop off depends upon the "evaluation" time frame. I believe it is 1 year for those with low sales, and quarterly for sellers with 400 + sales per quarter.

ETA: failing to improve could result in account closure. I do not think there is any public info on how long eBay will allow you to continue "below standard".
