What's the longest amount of time you've had a package delivered to your buyer? | Selling

Last Christmas a husband bought a diamond ring for his wife. I took it to the post office and mailed it out. Notice of package acceptance on that day.

For 1 solid month it disappeared. No update whatsoever. Nothing. No word on package.

Kept in complete communication with the wife basically saying that the package is 100% completely insured, donâ€™t worry, as she kept emailing saying she wants her ring. It was $1,200. If I recall.

Finally after 1 month of no response from the post office I put in a money ðŸ’µ claim for the insured package.

Couldnâ€™t believe they immediately found the package in a different borough of NYC. It did not go out of the city in 1 month.
A few days later it got delivered. The wife was so happy. She loved her diamond ringâ€¦

But for more than 1 month it was not even scanned in everâ€¦

I had one a couple of years ago that took a month. Fortunately, I had a good buyer and we both watched the tracking as his package bounced around from town to town across the country and back. It finally arrived and he was happy.

I had one this Christmas that took a week...no big deal. But I sent it to California (I'm in Kansas) and for whatever reason, the post office sent it on vacation to Puerto Rico before it was sent back to California. I panicked when I saw that Puerto Rico because it wasn't a cheap item but it did make its destination in a week so all was well.

Your buyer was the flip flop of one that I had. (not six months) Item came back

I refunded in full through eBay.... problem with buyer address. Message the buyer to notify of such. Crickets.

Next month the buyer opens a chargeback as "problem with transaction". eBay notified me, and they handled it.

I shipped something that the buyer asked for a refund two months later because it hadn't been delivered yet. It was tracked, so that's what the tracking would suggest. I put a notifier on my phone to see if the parcel would move later, and around 6 months after I shipped, I got a text that it was delivered. Needless to say the buyer never repaid me (however I wouldn't expect that after waiting 6 months for their item). (shipped from NY to somewhere else in the US, so domestic)

I also shipped something to Germany that a buyer refused to pay customs on. It was returned to my house approximately 11 months after I shipped it.

I ship with Chit Chats (or did then) and didn't purchase insurance on most of my shipments. The one that was lost for 6 months (domestic USA) was a Chit Chats one purchased on their platform with no insurance. I think the Germany one was too, but it got returned to my house, so I don't remember how that happened (if Chit Chats had mailed it back to me, or if I in fact sent it with Canada Post, I can't remember).

The Germany one I knew was refused at customs and coming back, and I told the customer he'd get his money back when I get my coin back (since I hadn't refunded I didn't see the need to file a claim with the carrier because I was keeping the money, and he lost the INR). eBay gave email addresses back then, so I Paypalled him the money when I got the coin back (less the shipping), it's what I promised to do. He's still BBL though for not paying his customs, I don't tolerate that kind of behaviour from buyers.

If the check does come, would it be a crime to cash it? I know a person as I helped them file a postal insurance claim. It was for a 400.00 non eBay purchase. They did get the check and the item did show up later. They did cash the check and nothing ever happened. I was a bit worried about it.

I've only had one package for missing so far. Sent in July. Went missing. Refunded buyer. Filed and received refund from USPS.

Buyer contacts me five months later after Christmas that the "joker" he meant his order just came. He wanted to repay but it was an inexpensive item and not to worry about it. Merry Christmas.

As a seller about three years ago it took about 21-23 days. After about 16 days I refunded the buyer and they sent payment after receiving the item.

As a buyer about 2 years. This was in the late 80's or early 90's when I was doing business mostly via mail. I did not receive a purchase so I contacted the seller and their response was I shipped it (before tracking) and she accused me of trying to rip her off. Anyway I was in the post office two years later on the daily trip and the clerk said we found a package for you. It turns out is was the missing book and was small package and it fell behind the shelves.

Incorrectly "tendered to returns agent" scan 3-4 times.

Research case.

Missing mail report.

Insurance claim.

Insurance claim appeal.

2nd insurance claim appeal.

Delivered 89 days after scanned accepted.

One that went to Memphis and another that left Charleston may set a record, as I am still waiting after 4-5 years.

A little over 2 years. Package was lost, refunded the buyer, filed a claim with USPS and was reimbursed package came back after over two years as undeliverable person no longer lived at that address and mail forwarding had expired.

We had one of those 2 year things...It took us a few days to figure out what was going on. LOL

Not at first I had to open the package. Once I saw the item I knew.

Usually USPS has been beyond very good, but lately, a bit scary.

@inhawaii for sure, but having to refund $132 and now have the item 'delivered' 35 days later, having to 'hit up' the buyer to see 'if they got it' (to start the conversation) and then ask for payment? and then have another package as of yesterday; $200 worth and having to do this all over again so soon...starting to get a bit crazy out there; in fact, I had an Amazon package that I shipped Priority so it would get there in 2-3 days and it took 10 days.

Shout out to the most patient customer in the whole wide world. He ordered the Lord of the Rings trilogy first editions on November 6th and the package bounced around the country for 2 months while we watched in ever-growing horror. But the books finally showed up on his doorstep the other day. Hooray! Definitely the longest delivery Iâ€™ve experienced a dci hope to never break that record!
