What's happened here?
Changing the format of eBay's messaging was annoying enough (has there ever been an explanation for this?) but now they seem to have removed the option of attaching photographs also. Does Ebay have a department set-up solely to find ways of irritating customers?

·1 year agoHi @retromedia2 . If below info doesn't help, come back with info on where you're hung up.
Messages are no longer formatted like emails; they are formatted like messages. It operates the same way a chat window does. Ex: when you contact customer service here on eBay using the chat option, and when you send a text message on your phone, you type in the space at the bottom, not higher up where messages are displayed.
At the bottom of the message window, the box that says 'send message' is where you click to start typing. I'm hoping eBay will update that 'send message' text to something more instructive in the near future, like 'compose message', and eliminate some of the confusion stemming from the crowd that is not familiar with text message / chat format.
The photo landscape icon on the left is for attaching photos. The paper airplane icon on the right is for sending the message.

·1 year agoI have recently joined the septuagenarian crowd, I don't even have a smart phone and I'm actually using and liking the new messaging system (yes I was briefly confused by the little "send message" box). I rarely used My Messages in the past, preferring to reply to questions using the Reply button in my regular email client.

·1 year agoThe messaging system is actually one of the few "improvements" that I actually like.

Change can sometimes be hard. The natural reaction to it is to resist. But I understand. I too did not like it at first and it was missing a lot of features we had in the old system. But they are there now, displayed differently than we were use to, but the options are there.
Ebay sometimes has to make changes as software advances, older programs have to be brought forward to match with current technology.

·1 year agoTo attach a photo, click on the little square box with a drawing of a mountain inside which is to the immediate LEFT of your send message box.
Edited to fix my rights & lefts -- you should see me giving driving directions. 😋

·1 year agoNot sure what you are looking at, but both mobile and PC versions still have the camera/photo features. All good on my end.
