What's an Inform Act ?
What's this ACT about ? Just seen it on my screen asking me to update my information but Ebay already has all my Information.
Congress is useless. Why don't they ever do something useful for a change. I can think of 1 million things like not letting Corporations sell my personal information ACT or the Robo Callers ACT or the ACT where foreigners call my cellphone and claim I'm going to Prison unless I refill their Green Dot Card ACT.

The Inform Act was passed by congress recently to help law enforcement combat the fencing of stolen goods on online market places like eBay, Bonanza, Amazon, FBM, and etc.
Online marketplaces are only required to collect information on certain sellers. Beep, beep, beep, you must have somehow gotten on the radar.

OP11 months agoYes it did say something like selling more than 6k per period or month or something like that puts you on the Radar.
Well if they can catch Fences and Thieves with this ACT all power to them i guess.

OP11 months agoOh okay but i bought a 15k dollar Trane Air Conditioner to jump start the Economy a year ago and right around the Year mark 30 HVAC Companies are littering my mailbox saying "only they" are authorized to service my AC.
Another ACT ?

·11 months agoProbably not. Some party to the transaction you engaged in probably sold the information, or perhaps your email provider did. Or the maker of an app you used.
Far more likely your email provider than Ebay.

There should have been a permit pulled when the A/C unit was installed. The permit information is public information and there are companies that collect get the information from cities and sell it.
Nothing nefarious going on.

·11 months agoA permit need not be required in all jurisdictions. In some jurisdictions an installation by a Master Plumber does not require a permit, in others all installations will.
The information could have been sold by any number of different parties who obtained it in multiple ways, all of which are legal, though some of which are detestable.
Anything one gets for "free" on the internet is not "free", and the cost is usually some of your privacy, and loads of crap in your inbox.
